Coffee | OrganicIsBeautiful

Coffee in your daily skin care

The first ever post media on OiB a few months back was a cup of coffee. This one. 10 months later, it is with no surprise that coffee becomes an actual topic, not just a cute photo. I love coffee. I always knew it was a plus (not a minus) in any beauty regimen. I already mentioned it here back in July, and even here earlier this year. I though today is the day to get messy. No more sweet talk, ditch the chocoloate and honey. Today, we go raw. Starting by a killer question (suspense mood on):

⇒ How to incorporate Coffee in our daily skincare routine?

You know you can incorporate coffee into your daily skin care , well no right? Even though it’s a widely consumed beverage but it has also got other not so popular benefits. Today we are going to discuss those.

You have heard it right!!! You can use coffee for your daily skin care routine. This is because coffee has got certain essential agents which are beneficial for your skin like the antioxidants, it prevents the aging of your skin. Quite shocking right? Something like coffee which you use to energize yourself in the morning can be used on your skin? To be frank, I was shocked too.

Enough of the blabbering, so let’s see why you should use coffee as your daily skin care product:

Prevents premature aging

Coffee has a rich quantity of anti-oxidants when you consume coffee you take those antioxidants inside, these are the agents that stunt your skin from aging. Antioxidants are greatly natural remedies to combat wrinkles and dryness.

Makes your skin smooth and soft

One of the basics of skincare is removing the dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. This keeps your skin healthy and fresh. In order to remove dead skin, you need a substance that is rough and strong but not so strong that they may ruin your skin. This is where coffee comes into play, it is a best natural exfoliation agent. It can be used as a natural scrub to get rid of dead skin cells, hence maintain a smooth and soft skin.

Reduces soreness of the skin

Strong antioxidants in coffee have got many anti-inflammatory properties. It reduces puffiness and soreness of the skin. It is the best alternative to harmful cosmetics. Later I’ll tell you how to make a DIY coffee mask help to reduce the soreness of the skin.

Some DIY coffee recipes

7 Reasons Why You Should Try Hitchhiking

1. Saving Money On Transportation

This was the reason why I first started hitchhiking, traveling on a shoestring and using public transportation don’t go well together. If I can get a flight from Portugal to Germany for 20€ I’m not paying more than that for a boring 200km, three hour bus ride to the next destination.

2. Saving More Money!

This might sound crazy to people who are concerned about the “dangers” of hitchhiking, but during some rides I have been offered food, money, drinks, accommodation and even marijuana and alcohol, usually they are just really into helping me and making sure I enjoy my adventure, some people have also driven off their paths just to drop me off exactly where I wanted them to.

Hiking Prep | OrganicIsBeautiful

Of course this situations don’t come very often, specially if you are hitchhiking with someone else. Although it feels amazing to be treated in such a nice way by a stranger you should be very grateful just by the fact that they decide to pick you up, so don’t expect anything else from the people who give you a ride.

3. Overcoming Your Fears.

When it comes to hitchhiking anyone who has never done it before tends to have enough misconceptions about it to keep themselves away from doing it unless encouraged by someone else.

The exact same thing happened to me, that’s why I want you to go out there and do it, after a few rides your opinions about hitchhiking will change drastically and once you overcome that fear you will feel more confident and even more determined to overcome other mental barriers that you may have.

Emotions are Contagious

4. Meeting Really Nice People

This is why I love hitchhiking! You will meet lots of different people and have many conversations with complete strangers. You can share your stories and at the same time discover more about the local culture or about someone else’s life, isn’t that great?

Of course not everyone is interested in hearing what you have to say or share with you their lives but countless times I’ve had really indulging conversations and learned much from this people and it also helped me overcome social insecurities.

5. Practising Your New Language

Please! Make sure you learn or at least write down some keywords or phrases from the local language. It’s easy to learn a new language and you can even practise for free with people who give you a ride by trying to introduce yourself, explaining where you want to go and even talk a bit about yourself in the local language.

If you and the person who give you a ride have any language in common it’s always funny to have a quick conversation in the local language, if that’s not the case be creative, talk with gestures or pictures, point at things, make an effort to break the language barrier.

You Are Your Own SuperHero

6. Save The World!

Every time someone picks you up the same amount of CO2 is emitted but more people are getting from point A to point B, this is what I call economizing. Can you imagine if more and more people start hitchhiking? Not only to travel on a budget but to actually do it on a daily basis. There would be less and less pollution, traffic jams and people would trust more on each other.

7. Experience True Freedom And Adventure

Hitchhiking is more than just sticking your thumb up and waiting. It’s the freedom of choosing where and when you want to go and never knowing where and when someone will take you there! It’s embracing the unknown! There are absolutely no certainties when it comes to hitchhiking, you never know what type of person or car will pick you up, how long you will have to wait or where they are going. This is what I call adventure!

When you don’t know what to expect you are living life in the present and experiencing everything in detail, you appreciate more the good things and easily ignore whatever doesn’t suit you.

Learn about my hike in Indonesia last year on OrganicIsBeautiful

I have countless good memories from hitchhiking: getting invited for lunch in a hill by the beach, having really funny or interesting conversations, getting rides on cabs for free, pretending to be moroccan on a police checkpoint and many more that are yet to come.

Thank you Lucas for this amazing post, you can find the original article in their website.

What about you? What are your thoughts on hitchhiking? Please Share with me your adventures!

Summer Herbal Skin and Face Care

Summer is at our door step. Can you feel it? A few days was June 21st. Did you say June 21st!? Wow! Time to think about how to prepare your skin against the heat this summer to maintain your natural beauty. Posting today on OiB is not a coincidence. June 21st means summer begins across Europe:

In FRANCE: Back home in Paris, June 21st coincides with La Fete de la Music, officially my favorite day of the year.

In SWEDEN:  While the parties is spreading over France that day, Scandinivia is not at rest. In Sweden, June 21st resonates with the Midsummer Eve.

What about my skin?

Heat, humidity and the shining sun rays can destroy our precious skin, this will result in dry, rough and peeled skin. Sun is very good for skin, specially of mornings, it contains lots of Vitamin D which is very good for skin and also for bones. Vitamin D also helps in Calcium absorption.

When summer arrives all the irritating stuff comes such as rashes or dry skin can cause itchiness etc.

Water Intake | OrganicIsBeautiful
Water Intake | OrganicIsBeautiful

Back to the basic:

  1. WATER INTAKE: Drink plenty of water. It is not only because that water keeps us hydrated but also because it is essential for our body. Water not only quenches the thirst but also helps to flush out the toxins and waste that accumulate in the body.
  2. EAT VEGETABLES. What you eat shows on your face. Do not consume too much of snacks and salty products as salt can have a dehydrating effect on the body. Like the last week, I ate so many french fries I end up drinking lots of water. Also, include high water content fruits in your diet like watermelon, cucumber, melon and lettuce which will give you nutrients and anti-oxidants. Also, include other green vegetables. Why? Read my previous article here.
  3. SUNSCREEN. Apply a good sunscreen. It will not only help you from tanning and also from sunburns but will also protect you from harsh UV rays that can lead to skin cancer. Did you know that rice powder is a natural sunscreen protector? (Really, I am not kidding!).
  4. EXFOLIATE. Exfoliation is very important to get rid of the dead skin that it is accumulated on the face and other parts of the body. Use an exfoliating sponge or scrub off the dead skin from the body. You can prepare a homemade scrub, I have added some simple and excellent recipes last week! Gently rub this scrub in circular movements on the entire body for 15 minutes and then rinse off.
  5. CLEANSER. Cleansing is also very good for Summer. You can cleanse your skin at home. Plain yogurt mixed with honey makes a good natural cleanser which not just cleanses but also moisturizes the skin. Apply this to your skin and leave it for 10 minutes. Rinse off with plain water. If you have time, why not finish by a DIY orange peel mask?

Skin Herbal Masks:

ALOE VERA AND OAT MEAL:

Take some dry oats and mixes it thoroughly with some aloe vera gel and apply on face and massage gently with your fingers in circular motion for 5-10 minutes. Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse off with luke warm water. Repeat this remedy once every week to get noticeable results.

Crush an apple (quantity as required) and mix it with 3 tablespoon honey with it. Apply on clean face. Leave for 20 minutes and rinse off with water. Repeat this 2 to 3 times every week for fair and oil-free skin. Some further recipes here.

TURMERIC POWDER, YOGURT AND HONEY FACE PACK:

Make a thick paste by mixing all the three ingredients well, you can add lemon juice for brightening and rose water. Apply this pack on the dried skin and leave it for 15-20 minutes. Later, rinse it off with cold water. This pack helps in moisturizing, cleansing and brightening.

4 Years Living Abroad. My Tricks to Be Happy (No Matter What)

The title is challenging. I like challenges 😉

Today on OiB I will discuss the secret to happiness. Being happy is the key to good health and a good health is vital to having a successful life. This could work the other way round too but this way happiness is always guaranteed.

These ways have brought me immense calmness and satisfaction which have in turn leaded me to feel complete and thus happy as well.

Lets start by the basic

  1. You don’t need anyone to be happy. Remember this notion to always succeed and feel good about the independence of life.
  2. You are more valued. Always keep your own advice above others while respecting and acknowledging theirs on the side as well.
  3. Be observant. Get more out of everything by paying attention to it closely.

It is easier than you think (really!)

Go with the flow

I recall when I had my huge suitcase back a few years ago, freshly graduated and ready to conquer the world a step at a time. I lended in Shanghai. I knew no one, and for anyone who has the chance to put a feet in China, you will know that it is such a chaos that even getting a taxi direction is a challenge in itself. How do you cope? You don’t. You just go with the flow. I learnt that the best asset is sometimes the simpliest: a friendly smile and the body language will do the rest (or not…).

I turned 27 a few weeks back, time to reflect. 4 years abroad, and more to come soon. Still loving it. Why? Cos I go with the flow, no matter what… and where!

It is Okay to do mistake, we all do. It is Okay to feel lazy, say “fu** the world” and stay all day on Netflix, scrolling over Vikings. There are days I really doubt the overall purpose. What does the sentence say? “There is no better place than home”.

Yep!

I still have my Spice Girls poster hanging around in my teenager room with my gameboy and sneakers. Sexy 😉

Happiness takes many forms and it takes more than 4 years to undiscover them all. I know for a fact that we do not need more stuff that we think. I explain. I came to Asia with a huge suitcase. At the time, I was allowed only 35kg, I reached way above. I left with 15-16kg and did not wear most of the clothes. It is an anecdoctic example, yet it shows you sometimes, less is more.

Live every moment

It is important to understand that no moment can ever come back hence I cherish each of them. It helps since I am rarely in a bad mood. Beeing angry doesnt help. It is as simple as 1+1 =2. Not rocket science!

I started OiB 8 months ago, it is growing faster than I expected, to my genuine and humble gratitude.

That was my first post here. I still recall how nervous I was when I first clicked on “publish” that day. It was a Sunday afternoon.

Finding a passion that turns into a hobby is all I wish you all. It gives a ordinary day a twist taste. A bit like when you order a blueberry cheese cake, and it comes with the vanilla ice cream. (Food analogy always help to get the point accross).

Keep creativity on the loose

Always keep making plans so that your creativity isn’t rusted or lost through the time and you feel proud of yourself. That is a true statement. Plus, accept your limitation. My big one? When I publish an article I have spent time and effort to prepare to only notice later some annoying typo mistakes, the french-english grammar mistake I can’t seem to eradicate once and for all.

As I say earlier, its Okay to do mistake. Keep going 😉

What helps is to always have new plans for yourself and pursue them as soon as it is possible to keep yourself from losing any energy and excitement altogether. I write an article every 3 days, 4 days if I feel lazy, 5 … hmmm Nop! Rule number 1 = consistency!.

Do what you thought you won’t ever be able to and do away with your fear of being unable to do something.

Give Back

Simple. It does not have to be your entire salary. It actually does not have to be money. I gave blood last week, it took 1 hr. 1hr of my time save up to 3 lives. Think. I will repeat IN BOLD this time:

1 HOUR OF YOUR TIME SAVE UP TO 3 LIVES.

Think about 3 people you know besides your family, the guy sitting in front of you while you read OiB, the cashier at the Carrefour desk, her daughter or son. Think. Think again and simply go.

Volunteering is the best way to stay happy alone. It gives you inner satisfaction as you do new things without any expectation in return. This helps one rise above expectations and lifts you to stay elevated for your own self.

Hence these ways definitely make you better off alone while exercising, thinking positive, eliminating negative thoughts, valuing experiences more than things, accepting realities to work for them, pondering on your blessings, helping, sleeping well, focusing on life goals and your own strengths have been scientifically proven to bring about happiness for a longer time too.

NOTE: Thats a longer article than usual, I usually do not do too much of “me” time. Yet, I hope you enjoy this article, if it makes you smile just a little bit, it was worth every french mistake 😉

Next post on natural lips palm you will crave for 😉

What do you do for knowing yourself?
