Safety While Using Essential Oils

Essential oils can be much more powerful than you anticipate. I recalled my first DIY recipe using essential oils did not go as planned!  Safety should be first priority, while dealing with such hazardous substances.

I’ve created this safety guide in order to help you deal with essential oils. Read through and feel free to feel the blank in the comment area 😉

Including myself many have incorporated essential oil in the daily life. They are highly concentrated liquid; it is not carefully used can cause great harm. The essential oil with respect and follow me on this guide on how to safely use essential oils.

1- Never use any essential oil undiluted

The Rule number 1 is to NEVER use undiluted essential oil directly on your skin.

And this apply to whichever one you use, either lavender oil, tea tree oil or any other essential oil.  Why? If abused it can be very harmful for your skin and even may leave a permanent damage, you may not see any damage to soon but in the long run there can be. So just avoid that risk!

2- Some essential oil may have an allergic reaction to your skin

So before you try essential oil on your face or your hands, just test it on a small patch of skin. Most preferably on your thighs.

3- Do a proper research before you start using essential oil.

Some essential oils need to be totally avoided by pregnant women and those with problems skin is. Patients suffering from diseases like asthma, epilepsy or other similar condition should also choose essential oils carefully.

Some essentials are also sensitive to sun exposure, lemon, lemongrass, grapefruit to name a few!

4 – Do not use essential oils in excess, when it comes to using it the less is more.

Essential oils are extremely concentrated liquid only one or two drops is what all you need. When I started using essential oil, I was using it to much and in no time I was facing the consequences. So using essential oils in excess is a big no!!

5- Never allow children to use essential oils without their parents knowledge.

As mentioned above, using essential oil in DIY recipe the wrong way can lead to unexpected risk to your skin. Make sure to keep essential oil from unsafe hands. There have been many cases where children consumed essential oil, you definitely don’t want to end up in such a situation.

6- Never take essential oils internally without any prior knowledge.

Consult and do a research before you take them internally. Start by OiB, read thought more, and if any question, feel free to leave a comment below, I usually answer within few hours (Bare in mind our time different may be different, I am in Kuala lumpur).

Essential oils are highly concentrated is and should not be taken in without any proper understanding of it. Essential oils may be derived from direct from various food products like black pepper, lemon, clove, orange etc but it doesn’t mean that there must be taken internally. I am not saying that you shouldn’t, but you definitely need to do a proper research.

NOTE: Essential oils can be extremely flammable keep them away from any fire hazards

I think I have covered enough precautions before you start using essential oil. They are great product to include in your daily life but you definitely need to be careful. If you have any queries, please leave a comment and let me know.

Thank you for reading OiB, let’s all be caution and use aromatherapy the right way 😉

Top 4 Oils for Acne Skin (Jojoba, tamanu, sesame and argan)

Acne is a problem which befalls many a person. In fact, the majority of people out there are likely to get acne at least once in their lives. Now, of course, you can always head to your local pharmacy and pick up a couple of products to help you tackle the problem. These products do not tend to be all that great, however. This is why it is suggested that you look into natural products, namely oils. These are four of the best oils out there for acne-prone skin at the moment.

Jojoba Oil

Jojoba Oil is fantastic for dealing with acne. This is because it can accomplish a number of different things, all of which will help when you are dealing with acne and really want it to be gone sooner as opposed to later:

  • Moisturizer: most cases of acne are down to dry skin, or at least your skin is going to dry out if you have acne. Using jojoba oil, you will be able to inject a touch of moisture into your skin. Straight away, this is going to result in you looking far
  • Spot treatment: you can use the jojoba oil on an individual spot on your face. This is great if your acne is not too intense at the moment.
  • Oil cleansing: yes, it is an oil, but it is a beneficial oil. The jojoba oil will help to break down the other oils on the skin, making it easier for them to remove using other cleaning methods. This means cleaner, less acne-prone skin.

Tamanu Oil

Tamanu Oil is sourced from plants in the south pacific. It actually comes from the seeds found in the fruit of the tree. There are a number of different benefits to using Tamanu oil. Perhaps the biggest benefit is the fact that it acts as an antibiotic. This means that it will kill the bacteria which is known to cause acne. In addition to that, Tamanu oil has the ability to quell any inflammation. This will speed up the process of the acne disappearing. Many people also find that Tamanu oil also has a benefit when it comes to the reduction of appearance in acne scars.

Sesame Oil

The best way to use sesame oil to combat acne is through the process of a skin massage. This will increase circulation in the skin which, ultimately, will push out the bacteria and toxins which cause the acne. Sesame oil is pretty good at this as it acts as a solvent.

It will quickly break up any excess oils or debris on your skin. This makes it quicker for them to be removed, again, speeding up the acne elimination process.

Argan oil

Once again, this is an oil which has a number of different benefits on the skin.

Argan | OrganicIsBeautiful

There are a few compounds in argan oil that you should be aware of:

  • Oleic acid: this makes it easier for oil and water to blend together. This means that when you are trying to clear oil from your skin, you will eliminate it faster.
  • Linoleic acid: this reduces inflammation in the skin. This is fantastic if you are dealing with severe acne flare-ups.
  • Polyphenols: this encourages dead skin cells to fall off of the skin and new skin cells to form properly. This will stop the majority of your pores from becoming blocked.
  • Vitamin E and natural antioxidants: help to fight off free radicals on the skin, greatly reducing the chance of acne flare-ups.

Why not check out some of these oils for your skin? Any one of these top 4 oils for acne skin is going to be so much better for your health than any chemical-based product you throw on it. This means that your acne is going to calm down quicker, leading to clearer skin that you can be proud of.

Amanda.

The Importance of Eyebrows

For the last two years I feel that well shaped and filled in eyebrows have become more and more popular in the make-up world and to me, it’s not a surprise as of why. Eyebrows can drastically change what a person looks like and they add so much character to a face that I feel like it’s one of the first things that you should try to tackle when you’re interested in make-up. To illustrate how important brows are to the general look of a face I proceeded to quickly sketch a lady and gave her over 15 different brow shapes and intensities.

You may ask why? OiB is about natural beauty, and applied aromatherapy tips. Since the past months, I shared with you:

  • How to make an awesome mask at home with basic ingredients such as orange, carrots, honey and even cool seeds you never heard of!
  • Which powders are a blessing for your skin like fenugreek, shikakai, rice or cinnamon to name a few.
  • Which refreshments are part of my secret love affair: almond milk, turmeric latte or smoothies
  • … and my favorite recipes for breakfast with eggs and matcha!

And more coming soon! Because beauty has different ways of expressing itself, I though it is time to diversify my scope, at least for a day – No fancy words, promise!

I’m not going to tell you which ones I think are flattering or not because I feel like it’s a matter of taste and not of fact. I personally dislike it when people tell you how to do something because they often only suggest it because it’s what they personally like, not what may be most suitable for you. Different faces suit different things, so you should do your brows in whichever way you want!

All I want to achieve with this is that you become aware of what different eyebrows do and perhaps gain some insight into how you want to shape your own. The next beautiful visuals are the courtesy of HantasticBeauty.

Eyebrow OrganicIsBeautiful

See how much changes in the intensity of the expressions when you change the opacity of the eyebrow. This is why it’s important to think of the colour as well! It can change how you come across drastically.

These two are almost identical, but the one on the left is more heavily filled in towards the tail and the beginning of the brow is left natural and lighter. On the right, the brow is filled in all the way to the center, note how much the intensity of the brow changes with just a little addition like that. So if you want a softer, more natural effect, lightly fill in the beginning of the brow instead of heavily

Eyebrow OrganicIsBeautiful
See how even a light or artistic eyebrow can bring expression to the face in a way that the ‘no eyebrow’ lacks, though not having brows can be a statement in itself as well and is quite popular for that.

Love,

Amanda.
