I have faith in people but I choose to be prepared to rescue myself from any mess, just in case no one shows up. I have been failed by people before and I have received huge crowd letdown before and I know what it means for me not to be there for myself. I don’t wait around for other people to encourage me. I find my motivation because I am my own first superhero and I will not let myself down.

  • I motivate myself.
  • I roll up my sleeves to work hard.
  • I rise to any challenge that comes my way.
  • If I don’t take care of myself, who will?
  • My tears will call ‘pity-parties around me but my sweat will call celebrations around me.

SuperHero Honor: I don’t push my responsibilities to others

I don’t allow myself to get to the point where I leave the responsibility of my life to others. I want to take the bulls of life by the horn and have a good life. It is my responsibility to discipline myself. It is also my responsibility to make sure that I improve myself in every way that I can. When I mess up, I clean it up myself and learn from my mistakes. I am responsible for setting my goals and I am responsible for achieving them or for failing to achieve them. Superheroes never push responsibilities. They roll up their sleeves and work.

  • When it comes to my issue, the choice is always mine.
  • Nobody should have to clean up my mess, I am an adult now.
  • Nobody owes me anything really.

This is very important to me; as it is often said, ‘looking good is good business. I make sure I eat organic and natural as much as I can. My skincare therapy is at the top of my priorities and I don’t hesitate to use natural remedies to deal with any skincare defects. I work out as a routine to help me keep fit and to burn some fat in a natural way.

As much as possible, I stay natural and organic. I always prefer the option of natural remedies to artificial ones. I am a living proof that organic is beautiful. I eat natural, I use organic cosmetics, and I prefer to dress natural. As much as possible, I avoid junk food and I drink water or fresh juice. This keeps my metabolism excellent and more effective.

You are Good Enough

One of my favorite quotes of all time is “Your background does not mean that your back should be on the ground”. I look round me and all I see are people who all seem to be better than I am, they are more beautiful (or so I thought), they looked smarter, they smile more, they have more talents and display much more wealth than I have. I actually started to believe that I was not good enough.

Why you are already a winner?

My parents loved me, but that love was not going to be enough especially when my sister seem to be prettier, smarter and much more gracious. I know they tried to hide it, especially daddy, it was just too obvious and I was also way too sensitive. As if to add insult to injuries, almost all the children in the neighborhood seems to prefer her to me, in fact they preferred everyone else to me. This led me to a reasonable assumption; I was not good enough!

School did not seem to make it any better, arithmetic seems to be everything to my teachers and I was never going to be good at it. They always seem so upset with my mathematics grades, they helped me to turn my reasonable assumption into an obvious conclusion, I was not good enough!

I decided to impress, I would clean and cook, wash and iron; just so my folks will take their attention away from my sister long enough for them to notice me, and it never worked. I would sometimes feign sickness, that didn’t work either; I studied so hard I got into honors’ roll in my school, nobody even remembered by the next day after our report cards got home; I was heartbroken, nothing would ever work.

As I grew up, I found ways to be rebellious and to fight a lot, I thought I had a point to prove; if people were not going to accept and love me naturally, I might as well make sure they notice me. So I thought if I kept doing bad things I would be noticed, I was wrong, it only made things worse.

I got into high school before I got completely fed up with competing with others, I had this great teacher who told me I walked like a queen, she told me I behave like someone of royal blood. He would tell me I was special, I was unique and I should seek to live like a queen.

Emotions are Contagious.

One day, I broke down in his office and wept bitterly as he tried to drag me out of the pit of inferiority complex that had been my prison from childhood. From that day, I started a process that made me realize that I needed nothing else to be good enough, I just have to know it and live it.

I am so glad today that I can tell you that you are god enough; you only need to know what you have and the best way to use it. Never compare yourself with someone else, you will never be them and they will never understand what it means to be you. Happy? Me? Really?

2017 will be my 5th year abroad, living in Asia. I feel blessed most of the time. It takes sometimes a quick reminder to myself to keep in mind how lucky I am. Plus, having OiB has become a personal investment that drives me toward my best!

There are many ways that one can employ in order to be happy but the best ways are the ones that are on one hand proved to bring about happiness and on the other hand also make you vulnerable even when living alone. These ways have brought me immense calmness and satisfaction which have led me to feel complete and thus happy as well. The following are some ways through which one can stay happy alone as well.

You don’t need anyone to be happy
Remember this notion to always succeed and feel good about the independence of life.

You are more valued
Always keep your own advice above others while respecting and acknowledging theirs on the side as well.
Get more out of everything by paying attention to it closely.

Enjoy silence and listen more
Establish enjoying silence as a way of thinking of it as an opportunity to reflect more peacefully.
Practice listening to what your mind has been asking you to do so you know what you want and need.

Rearrange your things
Rearrange your furniture or something to actually make yourself feel out of routine life.

Keep creativity on the loose
Always keep making plans so that your creativity isn’t rusted or lost through the time and you feel proud of yourself.

Starting a blog? Try marathons?

Pursue your plans immediately
Always have new plans for yourself and pursue them as soon as it is possible to keep yourself from losing any energy and excitement altogether.

Travel outside your confort zone?

Do the impossible alone
Do what you thought you won’t ever be able to and do away with your fear of being unable to do something.

Keep volunteering
Volunteering is the best way to stay happy alone. It gives you inner satisfaction as you do new things without any expectation in return. This helps one rise above expectations and lifts you to stay elevated for your own self.

What’s new on OiB today?

Well, I am Ashley, I like hugs, brunch and yoga. Yes, you can call me a Happy Yogi.

Hence my blog name that my husband and I picked: WILD YOGI. I know what you may think, its quite straighforward, right? I agree. My entire life is about simplicity and this is why I love Yoga and what it brings to me.

Here is my journey, pick what you like and make it yours. Yoga is all about self-love.

I love living life fully. You will agree with me when I say that we live in a fast paced world. We are in constant contact with technology and becoming less in contact with where we came from. Earth. Big Hug Mother Earth  ♥ (Told you I am a hugger ;p )

Some questions we all asked ourself at some point:

  • How can we keep ourselves in moderation?
  • How can we keep in constant contact with our minds, our morals?

Sharing today OiB an introspection on how to keep positive thinking up everyday & to stay alert and graceful.

I though I had it figured it out till…

To be painfully honest, I really didn’t care about anything outside my little bubble. I was more concerned with followers, having the latest thing, and showing it off rather than important issues like American gun violence or global warming. I devoutly care about these things now and would not go back. My mind was simply cluttered. How did I get to that mindset, though? If you can open your mind to more than just your Facebook, it can be easy.

 Lesson #1: Rise. Pee. Meditate

Or RPM.
Every morning I wake up to the same morning ritual. When I wake, I take care of my body so nothing is bugging me through my morning meditation. Nothing is distracting me from creating my day.

Absolutely nothing.

I love to sit on the bed and snuggle in my warm blanket. Usually, my husband doesn’t wake as early as I do so I try to keep really quiet.When I’m settling down with my breathe, I imagine the sound of my breathe as ocean waves. The sound of waves crashing in and then going back out to sea. I connect a lot with the ocean so this is the easiest way for me to zen.
Your intent for the day can be anything you want it to be. For the longest time my mantra, intention, my vibe was really simple.

‘I am grateful to be alive today.’

I said that to myself for weeks. It’s not the most inspiring message, but at the time, it was all I had, all I needed at the time. And it slowly grew from there. I started really concentrating on the meditation.

‘Meditation changed my perspective.’

I started to see that just having a roof over my head was a really good thing. Some people do not have shelter or food to eat everyday or a car to drive to work. I have these things. I don’t have much but I’m thankful for every hour worked of my life to get those things.

Meditation led me to these realizations. Mindfulness.

Lesson #2: Blood Opposition, The Key to My Morning routine.

After I’ve completed my mantra for the day, I wake my body up with yoga. I always feel so much better when I do some yoga in the morning versus not doing any.

My head is clearer, less tired, more alert.

Can’t we all use a little more of that? Here are just a few yoga poses in my morning routine. Remember this is just a guide. I hope you can take these poses and create a wonderful morning ritual uniquely altered for yourself.

The body has been at rest and a standing forward fold feels extremely nice on the back and legs. It is a slow, gentle way to wake the resting body.

Blood rushes from the center of the body to the extremities causing your heart to beat faster which, in turn, pumps more fresh, oxygenated blood throughout your body. The oxygenation in the blood refreshes your sleepy cells. Experiment on yourself. See how you feel after a few deep, juicy breathes in and slows rise up. Be sure to roll through each vertebrae.

NOTE: Don’t rise too quickly as it can make you very dizzy.

Lesson #3: Always Take the Time

How do you feel? Do you feel more alert?

Downward Dog feels great on the feet, stretches the back legs, strengthens the tummy and opens the back.
Warrior One Variation gives the upwards blood flow, strengthens the legs, opens the heart and stretches the shoulders.

2I save the best pose for last! Side Plank! I love seeing my body change. I use to not be able to lift my leg but yoga helped me build the strength to master side plank!

 

Finish with a gentle Extended Child’s Pose. I let my body cool down and say thanks to my mat.

 

I hope this gives you some inspiration to come up with your own mindful morning. I hope you can create your own mindful intents and change the world!

Self confidence is something many lack. The reason for the same? Unnecessary comments from friends and family that date back to childhood. Yes! Lack of confidence for many, commences from childhood. They are deep rooted and it becomes all the more difficult to uproot them when the scars are old.

Let’s face it. We all feel low when someone indicates through their words and actions that we don’t look good. This mostly happens with people who have a tendency to put on weight, people who are too thin, short or those who are dusky. When the unnecessary comments increase, we begin to doubt ourselves.

Am I too fat? Does that dress look dull on me?

Should I go for this event?

What if they mock me again?

Stop right there! If you begin to doubt yourself, the commentators will increase, so will your doubts. Your confidence level will go further down, making your life miserable. No Superheroes will come to your rescue. You are your own Super hero. Start now! Stop this mess and hit the boost button. Here is how you do it.

Let us start right from the beginning

Step 1: Stop measuring beauty from others’ point of view.

Step 2: Accept & Believe that you are beautiful, just the way you are.

Step 3: DO NOT let anyone else ruin that for you.

The transformation did not happen overnight. It took me years. It began with believing in myself.

 Boost your self-confidence:

Here are some don’ts that you could use, listed originally here.

  • Asking others for approval – “Am I looking fat?”, whether it is to hear a ‘No’ from a person or whether it is a genuine question, you are giving the permission to someone else to assess you. If you feel that you are fat and want to reduce, do what is necessary. If not, leave it. But do not place your self confidence in someone else’s hands.
  • Putting Yourself Down – “It wouldn’t suit me. I’m fat/thin/dusky” When you say this repeatedly to someone, whether you are fat or not, your belief becomes their belief. Later on, there is no point complaining when they comment on your looks.
  • Agreeing With Someone Who Comments on You – A Big No! It isn’t about throwing stones at every barking dog. It is about keeping up your self respect and not letting anyone else trample you. If you entertain them today, many more will join. You will end up feeling worthless. So, when they pass a comment that brings your confidence level down, boost it up by telling them that you feel wonderful this way. They will stop in a while.
