Never Miss to Visit Brunei!

To Go To Brunei or Not?

Brunei
Brunei

Visiting Asia as Brunei usually takes people to the bigger stops like Malaysia, Shanghai, Tokyo and Seoul. The electric sounds and blazing neon of these metropolises can blind you to a tiny treasure nestled by Malaysia and the South China Sea. The Sultanate of Brunei is a nation often untouched by tourists, despite the wonders in store for them. Brunei is a stunning country that world travelers should take their time to savor, for the richness of Brunei is just not in gas and petroleum, it’s in the culture and the natural beauty of the land.

Here are some things to consider when pondering to go or not to go to Brunei:

Public Transport in Brunei and Lack Thereof

Probably the biggest thing that most travelers fret over is how they’re going to get from Point A to B.

In Brunei you are limited to a bus or taxi. There are a few tourist horror stories about not being able to find an adequate means of transport and having to walk for hours to get to their destination. Supposedly, taxis are around the capital and the airport but nowhere in between. If you do find one, prepare your wallet for annihilation. Prices for taxis are rather hefty (a 15 minute ride might cost you around 25 BND).

The public bus looks like they drove straight from the 1960s, albeit services are fairly cheap (1-3 BND) depending on where you’re headed. However, if you’re on a tight schedule, you might find yourself ripping up your itinerary into itty-bitty bits. The public buses have no inkling as to what “timetable” means. Therefore, most Bruneians won’t use these infamous purple buses. Six bus routes in daily operation around the area of Bandar Seri Begawan, and they’re supposedly color-coated as of 2013 (but as of 2016 a lot of purple buses remain):

  1. Northern Line – Green
  2. Southern Line – Silver gray
  3. Eastern Line – Royal blue
  4. Western Line – Magenta
  5. Central Line – Brown
  6. Circle Line – Cyan

The Brunei government is really trying to expand on the public transportation sector, but as of right now, there’s yet to be any true improvements. Brunei

“Budget” Accommodations

Since Brunei isn’t exactly a tourist hotspot, you can find some pretty decent deals on hotels right in Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB). For example, with 500-600 USD, you can stay in a 3-star hotel or hostel for about 8 days. Unfortunately, these vacancies get eaten up quickly. Kampong Jerudong, another location in Brunei, as decent rates, but with the public transportation conundrum, you have to ask yourself if it’s worth the extra distance for a cheap place to sleep.

One note a fellow traveler made was that if you don’t arrange your room prior to arriving in Brunei, you might be the victim of price gouging. That is, what looks decent online might be raised to an exorbitant amount in person. Be smart. Book in advance.

Where Are Those Attractions Again?

Again, Brunei is by no means a resort town. There’s not much to do—and so you don’t have to deal with crowds. Fortunately, most attractions and museums are free. The golden mosques and hotels are stunning, but that’s about it.

Brunei isn’t very modern, so don’t expect miraculous examples of architecture and flashing lights. If you are imaginative and can make your own tours just by exploring, then Brunei might be for you. Consider this: A large portion of Brunei is built on a network of over-the-water stilt villages like Kampong Ayer. Not many people get the chance to experience something like that. It’s not exactly romantic like Venice, but a walk across the docks is humbling and eye-opening. Brunei is one of the richest countries in the world thanks to oil, yet the way of life is low-key and relaxed. You might even stumble upon an open market like Tamu Kianggeh. A rainbow of boats and umbrellas line the docks as people peddle their fruits and vegetables.

For those who love being outdoors, they won’t only find a unique journey in town, they can find it in the Bruneian rainforest, Ulu Temburong National Park. Tranquil rivers, boundless skies and excursions galore. Aside from resort hotels, there’s also a sustainable living village, where you can choose to stay in tents and eat jungle food that you harvest yourself. Plus, who can say no to getting up close to wild crocodiles, lizards, exotic birds and monkeys?

Another attraction similar to the rainforest experience is a cruise along the Tutong River that focuses on mangrove ecology and how to conserve natural resources. Brunei is also a great scuba diving location. Several shipwrecks can be found in the waters, as well as pristine coral reefs. Rental gear is cheap—about 35-50 BND.

What Do You Mean By “Dry”?

Because Brunei is an Islamic nation (the mosques should have clued you into that), don’t expect there to be any nightlife. If you’re the kind of person who likes slinging back drinks with the locals and hearing stories, you probably won’t be very fond of Brunei’s dryness. There are no bars, no clubs and overnight businesses are rare.

You are, however, allowed to bring a small amount of alcohol with you. An alcohol permit at the border of Brunei must be obtained before entering the country. Cigarettes are also a slight challenge to find.

During the month of Ramadan, when devotees of Islam take on fasting, you’ll find restaurants open. However, this doesn’t mean you’re open to woofing down food and drink in front of those who haven’t eaten in several days or weeks. You will be expected to ask permission to dine in front of those individuals. In 2014, the government passed a law that states it’s fine for non-fasting people and visitors to Brunei to order take-out during Ramadan to mitigate the offense. It’s a unique cultural exchange, but if that makes you nervous, plan your trip around Ramadan.

So should you go to Brunei? The answer is up to you. Brunei doesn’t have the glitter and glam of some other SEA locations like Indonesia or Malaysia, but that doesn’t mean it should be crossed off the list. People who love outdoor activities, fresh air and relaxation will find themselves perfectly satisfied by this happy little country.

How Yoga Change my Life?

How yoga change my life

Yoga

In this modern age, we all are strongly routine bound. Every single step is according to our everyday routine. There’s hardly any chance to get rid of it. Obviously, getting rid of it isn’t good for ourselves as we might lose our concentration and opportunity to shine in our life, right? Well, that’s not completely false. However, following such strict routine is never good for yourself. Such routine may help us in our career but not to us – our soul and our physical condition.

We all want to live safe and sound. We want mental peace, physical fitness and enjoy our life. Well, how’s that possible? The best way to achieve this stage is to take exercise regularly. Exercise is one of the best ways to keep yourselves fit and sound, physically and mentally balanced. However, it might take a good bit of time and thus, not compatible with our everyday routine, right?

I’m a typical person in the world with normal and typical everyday routine with tight schedules of everyday works. I didn’t enjoy a good health and most of the time was anxious about my future, my career and my life deep inside. I found that exercise would be the perfect remedy for me, but it couldn’t fit into my routine.

That’s when I started searching all over the internet and my community. Surprisingly, I found yoga the best thing for me. Yoga is one of the oldest types of physical exercise that involve a number of physical and mental condition that rejuvenates you physically and mentally. Yoga was invented around 5000 years ago, in the middle of Asia. Over days, it has evolved into one of the best assets of anyone’s life.

With yoga, I not only enjoy myself, but I was also able to change my entire life! Yes, yoga can tap you into a number of advantages and controls over yourself that can be really life-changing.

I was always fond of physical exercises because of their benefits. I went to the gym (a few times) and did yoga here and there, but didn’t grow up a habit of doing those regularly. I had a part-time job during my free time. My memory isn’t good at all, so I had to invest a lot more times in my studies. So, going to gym regularly was a hard goal to accomplish for me. About a year ago, my friend told me about yoga – how it could help me in my career. I thought, “Alright, I could afford a few moments to do some stretching!” The term “some stretching” was the most understatement of the year for me.

At first, I stormed the internet, watched YouTube videos and found a few good poses to do. It was tough at first, but as time went on, I started gaining more flexibility and all the other benefits yoga has given to me.

  • Physical Improvement

Yoga is a very old form of exercise that’s being refined and getting better day by day. It is one of the best forms to keep your body fit and healthy in every criteria. We might think of numerous types of workouts, but nothing is so easily sustainable like yoga.

For example, you start doing some simple, free hand workouts and determined to do it the rest of your life. In most cases, you hardly can continue it for a couple weeks! I tried doing so and the result is exactly what I told just now.

But in the case of yoga, I didn’t feel too tiring or boring. It was a very interesting feeling when I first did yoga and when I started continuing it. It’s a really good workout that can work on your fatigue, muscles, and flexibility at the same time. You’ll be able to enjoy the improved physical strength with a better, wider range of motion within a few weeks!

It may sound surprising, but yogaa can actually help you out with your skin! There are several poses in yoga that works on glowing skin. If you’re interested in yoga or doing yoga regularly, you might need these poses to enhance your skin care. Some of the poses are – Padmasana, Adho Mukha Svanasana, Dhanurasana, Halasana etc.

The main mechanism here is to supply more blood to your skin and stabilize your blood pressure under your skins’ vessels. That’s why I recommend doing yoga in an open place where there’s more oxygen density. For example, a garden, a park would be the perfect choice for these poses.

  • Mental Improvement
Emotional balance | Organicisbeautiful

This is, perhaps, the most important fact of yoga that it can improve your mental condition very easily. Yoga specializes in mental conditions and that’s the main reason yoga is so popular amongst people.

Yoga increases your body awareness, reduce muscle tension, strain, and controls over your uncontrolled emotions. Yoga consists of breathing exercises, poses, and meditation that are practically proved to be related to mental wellness.

In my case, I was always worried and stressed about my whole life – my career, my job and my family. If you’re a grown-up person, you already know how much pressuring these factors might be.

Specifically being reduced from most types of recreations was gradually increasing the mental pressure on me. Fortunately, I found yoga to release all my bad emotions. Within 1-2 weeks, I started to feel completely fresh and happy about myself. I’m now completely free from all types of depressions of my life!

Yogaa can also work as one of the natural remedies as well. Our body mechanism is very complex and yoga helps it to get stronger and more flexible. That way, you’re less prone to diseases, especially related to heart and blood circulation. With yoga, your control over yourself will get you rid of all other types of mental disorders as well.

Since I started a regular yoga practice, I’m leading a better, more organized lifestyle. As my mind is always fresh, I’m even finding my studies a lot easier. For a better expertise on yoga, I’m currently training under a yoga club with my instructor. She’s teaching me a lot more new poses and ways to ease myself and my mind.

I’ve also earned some fans! A number of my friends were surprised to see my positive changes and wanted to learn the techniques from me. At first, I felt a little shy. But gradually, I felt confident about myself and expressed the effect of yoga on me. Many of them now do yoga regularly and none of them suffer from the burdens of life anymore.

That’s why I always inspire everyone to do yoga regularly. My story with yoga was to inspire you as well. It doesn’t take a lot of time and it’s a lot easier than you could ever imagine. Just get started. One day, you’ll have the feeling like me – a positive look towards the world.

5 Hamstrings Yoga Stretches

Hamstrings are one of the most important muscles of our entire body that allows powerful legs and helps us walk smoothly. Hamstring consists of 3 main muscles that cover from the sit-bones to the knees. They help you bend your knees and run fast. A strong and flexible hamstring is very important for having a better physical fitness.

With all these yoga postures, you can easily strengthen your hamstrings and enjoy its awesome flexibility.

  1. Gate Pose

Gate Pose

  • First of all, kneel down on the floor. Your legs and bottom should be straight up to your hips. Put your inner knees together. Keep your thighs to the ground perpendicular.
  • Then, stretch your right legs directly out to the side. Put your toes towards your right side while your kneecap points to the ceiling. Move your pelvis a little bit to the right. While keeping your legs straight, try to touch the bottom of your right foot.
  • Inhale and stretch your arms out to your sides parallel to the floor, keep up the arms at shoulder height and put your palms towards the floor.
  • Relax your right arm alongside your right thigh, ankle, and shin. Turn your left hand up and stretch it upwards to the ceiling.
  • Put your left hand over your head towards the right. Your biceps will rest on your left ear. Move your head facing towards the ceiling. Continue moving your left hip to the front and move your torso up from the ground.

Stay 1-2 minutes in the pose. For releasing the post, pull your left arm to draw your torso upside and keep your arms stretched. Afterwards, lower your arms and move your right knee next to your left to regain balance. Afterwards, push your right knee towards your left while lowering your arms for regaining balance. You can do the same pose on the opposite side.

Gate pose is effective to stretch both sides of your body – hips to the finger. It also builds core strength, stimulates digestion, and increases the flexibility of the spine, circulation, and respiration.

     2.Triangle Pose

Triangle Pose

  • Stand on your feet, keeping them wide apart about 3 feet. Put your right toes towards your right wall and your left toes inwardly a little bit. As you inhale, push your left hips to your left while sliding both of your arms to the right, aligning parallel to the floor.
  • As you exhale, start moving your arms only. Elevate your left arm while putting your right hand on the right leg. Keep your palms forward.
  • Push with your feet while pulling up your knee caps. Keep your legs be strong. Touch the fingertips away from each other while your arms along with your shoulder create a straight line up-to-bottom, like the picture.

In the state, hold on for 5-10 breaths. Depending on your stamina and flexibility, you can hold longer. After that, release the pose by returning into a 5 pointed stars position. Continue the same steps on the other side.

This pose engages all the parts of your body. It stretches your hamstrings, reinforces the core, releases the hips and shoulders and most of all, and stretches your legs.

      3.Intense Sliding Stretch

           Pose – 1

    Pose – 2

  • Starting from the Mountain Pose, step your left foot back, making a V like shape with 45° angles. Both of your legs should be straight.
  • As you exhale, make sure that your feet stick to the ground. As you inhale, widen your toes, allowing your legs to be activated. Keep your legs strong and as you exhale, move the tops of your thighs backward while widening your sitting bones apart.
  • Move your right hip backward while your left hip forward. As you exhale, stretch your legs further through your bones.
  • With an inhalation, pull your chest up. As you exhale, stretch your spine by bending your body from your hips. Put your hands on the both sides of your right leg. If you want a better stretch, you can bend your elbows to reach the deeper bend.

Hold the pose for several breaths, maintaining the stretch of your spine and your hamstrings. To return back to normal, step forward with your right leg into Standing Forward Bend. Then, continue the steps on your left side.

If you feel too much pressure on your hamstrings, you can follow the “Pose – 1” to get accumulated with the pose. This pose with strengthens your hamstring while making it loose for more flexibility.

       4.Head to Knee Forward Fold

Head to Knee Forward Fold

  • After sitting on the floor, extend your legs to your front. Inhale and bend your left leg, bring your left foot to the inside of your right thigh and keep your left knee on the floor.
  • Keep your right leg in the center and put the toes pointing to the ceiling. While keeping your spine long, move your torso putting your chest and navel. Line up with the center of your right leg. Stretch both of your hands to a side of your right leg. Exhale and fold your torso forward, rest your hands on either side of your right leg, keeping your elbow up and off the floor.
  • Bend your torso forward as much you can, let your lower belly touch the thing first, then your chest and lastly, your nose and head.

Stay in the pose for 1-3 minutes and come up with an inhalation. Hold for about 30-60 seconds. To release the pose, draw your tailbone towards the ground as you inhale and lift your torso. Extend your left leg and repeat the instructions on the opposite side.

With regular practice, this pose your groins and hamstrings will loosen up. One thing keeps in mind, never force yourself in the pose.

      5. Reclining Hamstring Stretch

                          Reclining Hamstring Stretch

  • Lie down on your backs while keeping your legs relaxed and straight and arms relaxing on your sides. Just breathe normally.
  • Raise your right leg as high as you can while keeping your pelvis straight on the ground. Let your leg move straight towards your head as much as possible. Relax your foot to stretch your calf muscles as well.
  • Use a yoga strap or a towel on your foot. With the strap, pull your leg further towards your head. When you’re likely to reach your limit, hold for about 10-20 seconds.

After the pose, just release your leg, let it relax on the ground. Start again with your leg.

This is extremely helpful for your hamstrings. It’ll increase the flexibility while making it stronger, allowing fewer chances of getting injuries and muscle pulls.

Thank you,

You Deserve Your Affection First

YOU DESERVE YOUR AFFECTION FIRST – Organicisbeautiful.com

“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection” -Buddha

Hello there,

If you keep waiting for people to like or love you, your wait maybe forever. In fact, for you to be able to accept and appreciate the affection of others, you need to give it to yourself first. Spend time, money and resources in taking care of yourself, not for anyone to admire you but because you love yourself and you want to show it to yourself.

The word affection is one that primarily describes our actions towards others and not to ourselves; as perceived by most people. But that is where the misconception starts, it is not only possible but highly recommended that you also have affections towards yourself. You need to have strong affections towards yourself before any form of constructive affection can grow for others. Now, most people always talk about how noble it is to put others before you, but if you truly put yourself last, we all know what might happen (you’ll die for everybody, and no one will probably remember you).

Showing affection towards yourself before anyone else might sound a bit selfish but frankly speaking, everything we do is for selfish reasons. It might only be a good one; for example making an effort to change humanity because of the joy and happiness of being fulfilled and impacting lives. Humans are often driven by rewards, and even if you do not know if you do everything for the desired result, so when it seems that you do not care about yourself you should take time to meditate on the reward that is compelling you to do so, it might not be worth it, here is one that actually is.

The most basic human instinct is survival and all the necessary things we do is in that regards, whenever it looks like you are giving up your survival for to acquire something or someone it’s because deep down you believe that you need that person or that thing to survive, for instance, some people derive their importance from other people’s approval, so they don’t mind doing whatever it takes to get it.  But that’s all wrong the first person

Hey You, Yes You! You Are Beautiful

You always need to remember that time waits for no man and one day you will no longer be in this world, if you live your entire life loving everyone apart from yourself you will realize, on your dying bed, that you did not live a life. You need to enjoy every moment enjoy them just because you like them that’s how to show the world that you matter most.

YOU DESERVE YOUR AFFECTION FIRST – Organicisbeautiful.com

Deep down, you know that you matter most and you know that every other person feels that way, so why do you hide it? Why do you keep punishing yourself to get on the good books when quite frankly speaking they don’t care about your opinion as much as their happiness?

As shocking as it may sound, some people don’t understand themselves and are not even aware of their true identity and that is because they’ve lost themselves in trying to love and be like others. You need to realize sooner than later that you are your best friend and no one has your best interest in mind more than you do, learn to show yourself love and affection and learn to interpret your feelings more.

Imperfections are Beautiful

In summary:

  • Be kind to everyone, starting with you!
  • If you do not love ‘you’, why should I?
  • Loving yourself is what liberates you to love others.
  • If you do not give affection to yourself, you will not be able to receive it from others.

Feel free to share your thoughts with other readers, I will personally love to hear from you. Cheers!

Still Skeptical About Coconut Oil Pulling?

Still Skeptical About Coconut Oil Pulling? - Organicisbeautiful.com
Still Skeptical About Coconut Oil Pulling? – Organicisbeautiful.com

A lot of hubbub has been going around recently about coconut oil pulling, so it made me curious. After doing some reading, I was pretty amazed by the effects of coconut oil on oral health. So today on OiB, I would like to introduce the awesomeness of coconut oil, because you might be skeptical about this trend like I was once.

What is Oil Pulling?

As explained on WebMD, oil pulling is a “type of Ayurvedic medicine that dates back 3,000 years… [that] involves swishing approximately 1 tablespoon of oil—typically coconut, sesame, or sunflower oil—in your mouth for about 20 minutes and then spitting it out.” The idea behind oil pulling is that the oils detoxify the oral cavity by drawing out toxins to create a clean, antiseptic environment.

I know what you are thinking. That sounds kind of like pseudo-science. But, recent studies have proven that oil pulling has many benefits.

Benefits of Oil Pulling

A study in 2015 looked into the benefits of coconut oil pulling and the effects it has on plaque-related gingivitis. At the end of the 30 day period where the participants swished coconut oil, the results showed a “statistically significant decrease in the plaque and gingival indices” that was noted since day 7. The “scores continued to decrease during the period of study,” reports the head researcher.

The Journal of Traditional and Complementary Medicine published a full report on oil pulling in 2016 that details the following benefits:

  • Prevents dental cavities
  • Improves overall oral hygiene
  • Decreases oral microbial count (the lauric acid in coconut oil is great for this)
  • Reduces the stickiness of plaque
  • Reduces gingivitis
  • Decreases halitosis (bad breath)
  • Swishing strengthens the mouth and jaw muscles
  • Whitens teeth

Pretty cool, right? After reading the the studies, I could not wait to try it.

Still Skeptical About Coconut Oil Pulling? – Organicisbeautiful.com

How To Pull Oil

Okay, first, let me just say that while 20 minutes of swishing is how the ancients did it, you do not have to. Next, remember to buy organic, non-GMO coconut oil for maximum results.

Here is how I like to do oil pulling:

  1. Pour 1-2 teaspoons of coconut oil into your mouth (either with a spoon or from a medicine cup). Some people recommendto dothis right in the morning before drinking or eating, but I say whenever it works best for you.
  2. Swish for 5-20 minutes. Because 20 minutes is a long time, aim for around 10 minutes to receive the benefit.
  3. Go slow. Gentle swishing and sucking the oil through and around the teeth is all you need.
  4. Do not swallow. Spit the oil out in atrash can. Never spit it down the sink, because the oil will clog the pipes.
  5. Immediately rinse your mouth out with same warm sea salt water.
  6. Brush and floss as normal.

Final Thoughts

I was skeptical about coconut oil pulling at first, but I am astounded by the results. That is why I wanted to share my thoughts and findings with you today on OiB. If you have tried coconut oil pulling before, feel free to share your experiences!
