Today on OiB I will take about different alternatives to Eating Eggs. If you are a person who just cannot do it with eggs, then this article is truly the best for you. Eggs are no doubt very rich in proteins and they have such power and energy that there is actually no substitute for them. Still I have often been asked how organic can actually be beautiful if one doesn’t want to have eggs.

Alternative to Eating Eggs | OrganicIsBeautiful
Alternative to Eating Eggs | OrganicIsBeautiful

There is a simple answer to that. What I have found out is that it all takes for you to know what eggs contain. You can then make up for all these things that an egg provides with intakes of different things that are rich in the same. There are three types of people who cannot have eggs

  • People who are allergic to eggs
  • People who just don’t like the smell or taste of Eating Eggs
  • Vegetarians who do not want eggs to constitute their meals

Let me first tell you what eggs contains in them. Eggs are known to be important because they have too many benefits just through one simple egg. You can make up for them by eating multiple things but you can’t find all that in one simple ingredient.

  • Eggs contain lots of proteins
  • They can be had in different quantities and do not result in causing any heart diseases.
  • They have such contents that in fact raise the good cholesterol in the body
  • They are rich in too many antioxidants
  • They have lots of vitamins, minerals and good fats in them
  • Eggs also have iron, phosphorus, selenium and choline which is important for the brain
  • They help to lose weight too

I have substituted all these with different essential ingredients. If you are looking for its substitute in taste, then make sure you try the commercial egg replacer from stores. On the other hand, for gaining health benefits I normally eat the following or replace it when I am in no mood to have an egg.

  • I replace each egg for mashed potatoes if I need to bind a cutlet, loaf or a burger
  • I make crispy tofu to have an egg-less salad
  • If egg is used for adding moisture to any recipe, I add in ¼ cup banana puree for each egg asked for. Even apple sauce, vegan sour cream and pumpkin can be used for the sweetness
  • For baking, I make sure that agar powder is used instead of egg whites or soda is used for cake mixes

For people who need to eat things that can in any way replace some of the health provided by eggs. They can include the following in their diet.  Eating Eggs!

  • Lean meat is the best option and the number one to provide many essential proteins.
  • Fish is a game changer for iron sources that make up for eggs beautifully

There are many other techniques as well. If you want to know more or have any of your own, let me be obliged by your comments below.

PLANT BASED DIET FOOD

MATCHA ZOATS

If the title of this recipe – Matcha Zoats- makes absolutely no sense don’t worry, I will explain all.

If you already know what I’m referring to then prepare yourself to get excited about this healthy and delicious breakfast.

Matcha

Matcha is made from ground Japanese green tea leaves. You may remember my earlier article of green tea powder in your skin routine here. When you eat the whole leaf, it makes it higher in nutrients and anti-oxidants than if the tea was brewed.

Yes, I hear you… Sounds almost to good to be true. Keep reading below 😉

Why should you use it? One it tastes good. But two, studies have linked the consumption of green tea to reduced risk of some cancers, boosted immunity, raised metabolism and fast recovery after exercise. That sounds like a pretty good list of the benefits of matcha to me.

Matcha can be a bit pricey but it’s worth the investment because, trust me, one tin will last you for ages.

Zoats

Zoats stands for zucchini (a.k.a. courgette) oats.  I love adding grated veggies to porridge because it really fills up the bowl and makes for a satisfying breakfast. Its super simple to do and helps you to sneak in an extra portion on veg!

Plus, edamame is naturally gluten-free and low calorie, contains no cholesterol and is an excellent source of protein, iron, and calcium. It is an especially important source of protein for those who follow a plant-based diet.

The beans are particularly popular in the East-Asian cuisine, especially in Japan, Korea, and China. These garden pea like bean pods quietly gaining popularity inside the USA as well as in some European counties recently.

TIPS: Vegetarian lover? Stop right now, edamame is for you! 100 g beans carry 110 calories and provide 10.25 g or 18% of daily recommended intake of protein.

 ∴ Some Awesome Health Benefits

Edamame, just like soybean, is rich in carbohydrates, vitamins, proteins, and minerals.Did you say minerals? Yes, 100 g of fesh bens hold 26% DRI (daily recommended intake) of iron, 56% of magnesium, 36% of copper and 73% of manganese. How to cook Edamame at Home

TheKitchn lists 5 different and very simple way to master the Edamame cuisine. I personally eat it raw here in Kuala Lumpur, usually in Japanese restaurant. Written this article, I am curious to know how Malaysian – beside the famous local samba and rice –  incorporates Edamame in their own cooking tradition.

  • Straight up, with salt – Did you know that edamame isn’t just a sushi restaurant appetizer? It’s easily made at home, too. We like to buy bags of frozen, steamed edamame in their pods and just warm it up. Peel and eat!
  • With rice – Edamame beans, shelled from their pods, make a quick and delicious supper. Rice is absolutely everywhere in Asia, some of my workmates eat it for breakfast! Back in 2012, when I was intern in China, I even discovered the black rice (delicious btw).

  • Stir-fried – You can do many things with those tender little green beans, once they’ve been slit out of their pods, and stir-frying is another great option. Throw into some leftover rice with an egg and quickly stir-fry until hot.
  • In a bean salad – Edamame is also great in tossed bean salads, like this Three Bean Salad with cumin, garlic, lime juice, and black-eyed peas.
  • Pureed in a dip – Here’s a great way to make a party dip that’s healthy but still full of lively and bright flavors: puree edamame beans with lemon, mint, and cheese into a great snack dip.
