Alternative to Eating Eggs

Today on OiB I will take about different alternatives to eggs. If you are a person who just cannot do it with eggs, then this article is truly the best for you. Eggs are no doubt very rich in proteins and they have such power and energy that there is actually no substitute for them. Still, I have often been asked how organic can actually be beautiful if one doesn’t want to have eggs.

There is a simple answer to that. What I have found out is that it all takes for you to know what eggs contain. You can then make up for all these things that an egg provides with intakes of different things that are rich in the same. There are three types of people who cannot have eggs

  • People who are allergic to eggs
  • People who just don’t like the smell or taste of eggs
  • Vegetarians who do not want eggs to constitute their meals

Let me first tell you what eggs contains in them. Eggs are known to be important because they have too many benefits just through one simple egg. You can make up for them by eating multiple things but you can’t find all that in one simple ingredient.

  • Eggs contain lots of proteins
  • They can be had in different quantities and do not result in causing any heart diseases.
  • They have such contents that in fact raise the good cholesterol in the body
  • They are rich in too many antioxidants
  • They have lots of vitamins, minerals and good fats in them
  • Eggs also have iron, phosphorus, selenium and choline which is important for the brain
  • They help to lose weight too

I have substituted all these with different essential ingredients. If you are looking for its substitute in taste, then make sure you try the commercial egg replacer from stores. On the other hand, for gaining health benefits I normally eat the following or replace it when I am in no mood to have an egg.

  • I replace each egg for mashed potatoes if I need to bind a cutlet, loaf or a burger
  • I make crispy tofu to have an egg-less salad
  • If the egg is used for adding moisture to any recipe, I add in ¼ cup banana puree for each egg asked for. Even apple sauce, vegan sour cream, and pumpkin can be used for the sweetness
  • For baking, I make sure that agar powder is used instead of egg whites or soda is used for cake mixes

For people who need to eat things that can in any way replace some of the health provided by eggs. They can include the following in their diet

  • Lean meat is the best option and the number one to provide many essential proteins.
  • Fish is a game changer for iron sources that make up for eggs beautifully

Recipe- Quick Broccoli Stir Fry:

I am sharing a quick recipe with you, which has only Broccoli as the main ingredient, and will surely be a treat for all the vegetarians .

Ingredients:

 Broccoli flowers as desired
 White pepper powder 1 tsp
 Salt as desired
 Butter or Oil 2tsp

Method:

 Clean the Broccoli flower and cut into bite size pieces. Include the stalk of the Broccoli.

 Heat the oil and add all the Broccoli flowers in it. Sprinkle the white pepper powder and salt on it.

 Cook for like 2 minutes only on high heat while stirring it constantly. Take it off once ready and serve yummy hot Broccoli Stir Fry.

Note: Never over cook your veggies to avoid lumps. It devoid many nutrients from the vegetables. Broccoli Stir Fry makes a good snack when you are dieting.

It is a good thing as growing chives is  relatively easy and can be done even if you have basic gardening skills. In a backyard garden, chives can be grown along with the other herbs in one bed. You have to make sure that plant is well watered but not drowned and that it is getting enough sunlight.

You can also grow it inside your house even you are living in a classy modern looking apartment or home. You can have herb ready whenever you want one. As the herb is almost water resistant, its maintenance is easy. Once it is sprouted, it can go about itself. Because of this, even if you are busy with your work, you can have a herb ready for your dinner or for your first aid to certain illness.

I have one at my place and I tell you, it is very beneficial to have one of your own.

DIY MIXED HERB VEGAN PESTO

Ingredients

1 Cup Mixed Herbs (Basil, Cilantro, Sage, Parsley, Cilantro, Kale, Arugula, Mint, Chives) Choose 1 to 3 that complement each other

¾ Cups Nuts of Choice (Pine Nuts, Cashews, Walnuts, or Blanched Almonds)

¼ Cup Olive Oil

2 Tablespoons Nutritional Yeast

2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice

1 Clove Garlic

¼ Teaspoon Salt

¼ Teaspoon Pepper

Instructions

Add everything to a food processor. I used the smaller bowl and blade insert. Blend until smooth, stopping to scrape the sides as needed.

Today on OiB I will teach you a very interesting recipe using raspberry and elderberry. You could call it a fruit juice or a jam. Just the thickness varies, that is all. Depending on the amounts of water and sugar, you add, you have either a fruit juice or jam.

  • A cup of raspberries
  • A cup of elderberries

Procedure

Step1

You will need to wash the elderberries and raspberries. This helps in getting rid of the stalks which are present on them. Instead of using your fingers, you can make use of a fork. Now, you will want to place the berries in a hot pan.

Step2

As you are cooking the berries, start to mash them. Once you are done mashing, you can pour them into the muslin. Leave the items overnight in the refrigerator. Next day morning all you need to do is measure the juice in the bowl and boil in a cleaned pan. You will then want to pour into warm jars.

Step3
