3 Places to Go to Relieve Brexit

xisirlngsrwn02ya2bbk_submission-photo-7-copia

There are many people who have been asking me about any two to three places that can be best to relieve stress. Today on OiB, I will discuss the 3 places that one can enjoy post the Brexit situation so that the stress regarding the same can be relieved well.

The world is full of many places that can be visited anytime to relieve stress. If you want to relieve stress post-Brexit then my three picks are certainly the following

  • Le Mas Candille (France)

They say the first step to relieving stress is the way through food. If you have the ultimate foodie experience, then that is the best way to attain a good balance overall. This is why French cuisines are the top names that have tastes of all kinds. French has a lot of gourmet styles. Mindful eating can be well dealt here.

The Le Mas Candille is a luxury hotel that is a Michelin star restaurant too. It has great delicious cuisines while you can kickstart with awesome starters, entrees, and desserts as well.

  • Ananda in the Himalayas (India)

If you want to have a spiritual relaxation experience, then this place is also very good for you. With no WiFi and unnecessary contacts at hand, this mental detoxification process is the best of all for the mind. The gigantic Himalayas have a great spot for relaxing the mind even though the views are too breathtaking and scary for some people.

This is just like a wellness journey while the relaxation spa is a true addition as well. There are many varieties to choose from. These include Rose facials, Reiki, Ayurved, Yoga treats, aromatherapies, salt scrubs, and many others to take advantage of.

  • Restival Arizona (USA)

If you are looking for the place to disconnect and then regain the energy from, hen this options are truly the very best for you. The Restival Arizona event is about to take place from 12th September to 17th September. It is present in the traditional Navajo homeland and has four sacred mountains in it that define the Dinetah. This festival and retreat is not just a normal vacation but is full of six days that are beautiful to the core.

There are lots of curated workshops and activities going on throughout the whole festival. One can learn the Navajo Tribe’s old and ancient culture, wisdom as well as heritage and traditions through these. It is just like unplugging from the rest of the world, its problems, unwinding your inner self and then restoring your physical strength and mental strength at the same time as well. It also creates the perfect balance and setting for a brilliant environment while re-imagining the world from a fresh and newer vision is a great start thanks to the Navajo community’s creative people.

These are a few personal experiences that have been gathered to make you feel hope for freshness in life. You can also follow the trail to let us know how you felt and share the experiences with the people dealing with the same now. Make sure you comment below for the same.

A List of Simple All-Natural Exfoliants For Your Skin

Why should you avoid store-bought exfoliants?

There are many products that you can buy to exfoliate your skin, but the problem with most of them is that they contain microbeads. Microbeads aren’t only rough on skin, but also terrible for the environment. The small plastic beads in these products aren’t filtered out by water treatment plants and are being washed right back into our water supply, often with harmful results for marine life.

In USA for instance, the state of Illinois recently banned the use of microbeads. The plastic waste caused by the microbeads, which are not filtered out during sewage treatment, are damaging water ecosystems.
In EU, the European commission has recently lunched the debate to closely monitor its long term impact. If you would like to read more about the project, you can read further update on the following link ⇒ EU.

The good news is, the best exfoliators are all-natural, so you don’t need to buy any harmful, expensive products. With ingredients that you already have on hand, you can have your face shining and refreshed in no time. List compiled by DIYNatural.

All-Natural Exfoliants

 Sugar

Sugar grains are naturally small and rough, which make them perfect for sloughing skin cells from your face. When added to an oil, such as grapeseed or olive oil, sugar is a fantastic exfoliant.

Another benefit to sugar?

It’s full of glycolic acid, which helps to naturally break down dead skin cells and decrease fine lines.

Hmm I am guessing your next question: How does it work?

Basically, glycolic acid contains small molecules that are able to penetrate into the skin. And, once it penetrates under the surface it loosens up the glue-like substance that holds the skin cells together and allows the skin to shed off the old dead cells. Once the skin has rid itself of the old cells it appears brighter and leaves your skin with a more, healthy glow.

Simple 😉

Oatmeal

Oats is actually my favourite breakfast, no matter where I am or how I feel. It does the job and I looove trying new refreshing recipes. Oatmeal is one of the gentlest exfoliants you can find. If you have sensitive skin, it’s a great place to start for exfoliation.

Oatmeal | OrganicIsBeautiful
Oatmeal | OrganicIsBeautiful

Oatmeal works best when whole oats are ground up in a food processor, then added to water or another base and applied to the face with your fingertips. Another benefit to oatmeal is that it absorbs oil, so you will be cleansing as you exfoliate.

Baking Soda

I often use baking soda in my DIY skincare routine. And since all you really have to do is make a paste out of baking soda and water, it’s quite possibly the simplest and least expensive exfoliant on this list. Baking soda is one of my favorite exfoliants; my face always feels so much fresher after I’ve rinsed all the baking soda off, and it’s very gentle, too.

Sea Salt

Sea salt (not table salt!) makes a great exfoliant, too. The granules are large and coarse, and don’t dissolve easily. This makes it fantastic for use on the rougher parts of your body, like elbows and feet. Another nice thing about sea salt is that it isn’t at all sticky. To use, simply mix with a small amount of oil and rub into your skin.

The week end is coming soon, if you feel like pampering yourself with a refreshing and calming bath, read that:

Saturday Relaxation with Ginger and Dead Sea Salt.

Coffee

Caffeine is known to decrease puffiness around the eyes.

Coffee | OrganicIsBeautiful
Coffee | OrganicIsBeautiful

Exfoliating and decreasing puffiness at the same time? Sounds good to me! You can use either fresh coffee grounds or those you’ve already brewed (which makes more sense to me – recycling is always a good thing!), add them to a small amount of the oil of your choice, and apply to your skin.

Note: The only downside I see to using coffee as an exfoliant is that coffee grounds are inherently messy, so be prepared for a bit of cleanup.

Almonds

It probably sounds strange to think of rubbing almonds all over your face, but when they’re ground up very finely, almonds make for a great exfoliant. Almond powder is a chemical-free, nutrient-rich method to exfoliate your skin.

When added to a small amount of water, almond powder will exfoliate the skin without leaving behind any residue. Other powders hold similar health attributes for your skin such as Cinnamon, rice or green tea (matcha) powder.

Now you know…

Using an exfoliant a few times a week is one of the best ways to keep your skin healthy and young-looking. Make sure you use them gently – exfoliating shouldn’t hurt! Scrubbing your face too hard or too often can result in irritated skin, and redness is definitely not the look you’re going for with this.

If you think it’s going to be difficult to incorporate natural exfoliation into your routine, take heart. Seriously, if I can learn to do it, you can learn to do it.

Once you get used to having such bright skin, you’ll never want to go back.

Happy Skin Everyone,

Next post next Monday on something called…Emu Oil I recently discovered and loved 😉

Summer Herbal Skin and Face Care

Summer is at our door step. Can you feel it? A few days was June 21st. Did you say June 21st!? Wow! Time to think about how to prepare your skin against the heat this summer to maintain your natural beauty. Posting today on OiB is not a coincidence. June 21st means summer begins across Europe:

In FRANCE: Back home in Paris, June 21st coincides with La Fete de la Music, officially my favorite day of the year.

In SWEDEN:  While the parties is spreading over France that day, Scandinivia is not at rest. In Sweden, June 21st resonates with the Midsummer Eve.

What about my skin?

Heat, humidity and the shining sun rays can destroy our precious skin, this will result in dry, rough and peeled skin. Sun is very good for skin, specially of mornings, it contains lots of Vitamin D which is very good for skin and also for bones. Vitamin D also helps in Calcium absorption.

When summer arrives all the irritating stuff comes such as rashes or dry skin can cause itchiness etc.

Water Intake | OrganicIsBeautiful
Water Intake | OrganicIsBeautiful

Back to the basic:

  1. WATER INTAKE: Drink plenty of water. It is not only because that water keeps us hydrated but also because it is essential for our body. Water not only quenches the thirst but also helps to flush out the toxins and waste that accumulate in the body.
  2. EAT VEGETABLES. What you eat shows on your face. Do not consume too much of snacks and salty products as salt can have a dehydrating effect on the body. Like the last week, I ate so many french fries I end up drinking lots of water. Also, include high water content fruits in your diet like watermelon, cucumber, melon and lettuce which will give you nutrients and anti-oxidants. Also, include other green vegetables. Why? Read my previous article here.
  3. SUNSCREEN. Apply a good sunscreen. It will not only help you from tanning and also from sunburns but will also protect you from harsh UV rays that can lead to skin cancer. Did you know that rice powder is a natural sunscreen protector? (Really, I am not kidding!).
  4. EXFOLIATE. Exfoliation is very important to get rid of the dead skin that it is accumulated on the face and other parts of the body. Use an exfoliating sponge or scrub off the dead skin from the body. You can prepare a homemade scrub, I have added some simple and excellent recipes last week! Gently rub this scrub in circular movements on the entire body for 15 minutes and then rinse off.
  5. CLEANSER. Cleansing is also very good for Summer. You can cleanse your skin at home. Plain yogurt mixed with honey makes a good natural cleanser which not just cleanses but also moisturizes the skin. Apply this to your skin and leave it for 10 minutes. Rinse off with plain water. If you have time, why not finish by a DIY orange peel mask?

Skin Herbal Masks:

ALOE VERA AND OAT MEAL:

Take some dry oats and mixes it thoroughly with some aloe vera gel and apply on face and massage gently with your fingers in circular motion for 5-10 minutes. Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse off with luke warm water. Repeat this remedy once every week to get noticeable results.

APPLE AND HONEY FACE MASK:

Crush an apple (quantity as required) and mix it with 3 tablespoon honey with it. Apply on clean face. Leave for 20 minutes and rinse off with water. Repeat this 2 to 3 times every week for fair and oil-free skin. Some further recipes here.

TURMERIC POWDER, YOGURT AND HONEY FACE PACK:

Make a thick paste by mixing all the three ingredients well, you can add lemon juice for brightening and rose water. Apply this pack on the dried skin and leave it for 15-20 minutes. Later, rinse it off with cold water. This pack helps in moisturizing, cleansing and brightening.

I love simple. My kitchen is my Bathroom and vice versa. Yet, a question arises this morning after I drunk my lemon water, scrubed my face with green tea and and my hair with coconut oil, (Yes, a pampering sunday morning):

How, as a ordinary consumer, can I know that my food and skin care ingredient are not only healthy & natural but also ethically processed?

Thats a hard one, isn’t it? The short answer: CERTIFICATION. The longer one? read below 😉

2

What are Organic Certification for?

I wrote in the past about the difference between “organic” and “nature” and that its all about personal choice. This is where Organic certification comes in, giving me those much desired assurances that what I am consuming is exactly what I expect it to be. Like you, organic products I consume vary in range and include

  • Fruits – The good think of living in Malaysia, I am surrounding by exotic and delicious fruits. (Will write a post about my fancy love/hate relation with the local foods here).
  • Vegetables
  • Wines
  • Cheeses

I source my products from a range of places such as local Organic markets, shops and direct sales farms where the foods were produced. Having the foods from different sources further enhances my requirement to ensure my foods are organic. This is where certification comes in…

Do you live in Italy, Uk or Bolivia (Hola Boliviano) ? Don’t worry, the table below lists the major state entities.

So, how does it work?

In simple terms Organic certification is a set a rules and regulations that apply to the organic production, labelling and control of something that is going to be classified as an organic product. Organic control bodies licence and regulate organic operators to ensure compliance to a set of standards and that we as a consumer have our requirements of a product being organic met.

Below you will find a brief list of some the processes involved in the production of organic food which may be regulated:

  • Production process of organic foods or products
  • Importation of organic foods from third countries
  • Labelling of organic products

To further enhance the Organic identity of a product, labelling of organic products usually contain a list of ingredients as well as the name of the producer, processor or distributor.

Some Local Involvements

USA FLAG OrganicIsBeautiful
The Organic food production act is what legislates organic food production in the USA.

Historically federal legislation defined three levels of organic foods:

  • Products made entirely of certified organic ingredients which could be labelled “100% organic”
  • Products with at least 95% organic ingredients which could be labelled “organic”
  • A minimum of 70% organic ingredients that could be labelled “organic ingredients”

Similar to the USA, in Europe the term organic is defined by law where rules apply to organic production. Organic control bodies (CBs) license individual organic operators who need to comply with a specific set of standards and meet requirements in order for something to be marketed as organic. Each or all of the activities involved in organic product production require registration with an approved control body.

… and Limitations.

Historic differences between the USA and Europe made it difficult for producers from overseas to get their organic practices recognised accordingly.

Why? Those wanting trade both sides of the Atlantic may have required two lots of certification (one for USA standards and one for European) which also resulted in increased costs. An agreement was recently made between the US and Europe that allowed for European organic certification to be allowed with impunity into the US. Within this is the concurrence that organic standards are fairly equivalent across both markets. The agreement also brought with it a number of others advantages such as:

  • Connecting farmers and organisations both sides of the Atlantic
  • New opportunities
  • Less bureaucracy & costs
  • Improvements in transparency on organic products and standards

The most important thing for me and you as consumers of organic products is the increased uniformity between Europe and the US symbolising increased confidence in the recognition of what I can truly believe is an organic food and product.

Furthermore this huge step gives recognition for Organic produce itself and emphasises the importance of Co-operation and relations around the world which ultimately gives you and I the satisfaction as a consumer that we are getting exactly what we want and that is 100% Organic.

The type of vibe that makes you say, with no blink, no doubt or no discomfort, to your loved ones, today:

A bad day is a wasted day.

Easy to say, I know. So, remember that you are unique and perfectly imperfect.

For instance, from my previous post, you know that I now loooove my legs 😉

You deserve to feel healthy and beautiful.

Lemon water, a kick start morning additive to consider - organicisbeautifulWhat I do? I kickstart my day with a glass of warm lemon water. So drink some tea, eat some fruits and veggies, and remember to drink lots of water.

To have a long, lovely day.

Today and every day. Since we are not greedy, we will start a day at a time 😉

To feel silly and goofy.

How does it work? 3 things.

  1. Dance wherever you want, whenever you want, and act like no ones watching.
  2. Make fun of yourself, constantly. Auto-derision as we say in French is a keen company!
  3. Always feel confident. No matter what you wear, how you hair looks like or makeup you went for this morning.  It’s your body, so who cares what anyone else thinks?
