Raspberry + Elderberry = Skin Energizer

Today on OiB I will teach you a very interesting recipe using raspberry and elderberry. You could call it a fruit juice or a jam. Just the thickness varies, that is all. Depending on the amounts of water and sugar, you add, you have either a fruit juice or jam.

I have tried it and it proved to be an instant skin energizer. For all you women out there, who feel that their skin is slightly on the dull side, will want to check this DIY recipe out.

The elderberry bush is a popular nature berry that can be found in several regions in the United States of America and Canada. They usually grow in cool areas. You can find the berries growing on their tress during the months of August and October.

The white flowers are something to see, really they are amazing. The tiny black fruit provides abundance of juice for such a small looking fruit. Don’t directly eat the fruits because they are extremely powerful, which is why little cooking is required before you pop them in your mouth.

These berries are ideal for making sauces, wines, and jams. And jams are my personal favorite. The berries are very good for skin and come with several other health properties like they cure a bad stomach and even come with anti cancer properties.

Ingredients

  • A cup of raspberries
  • A cup of elderberries

Procedure

Step1

You will need to wash the elderberries and raspberries. This helps in getting rid of the stalks which are present on them. Instead of using your fingers, you can make use of a fork. Now, you will want to place the berries in a hot pan.

Step2

As you are cooking the berries, start to mash them. Once you are done mashing, you can pour them into the muslin. Leave the items overnight in the refrigerator. Next day morning all you need to do is measure the juice in the bowl and boil in a cleaned pan. You will then want to pour into warm jars.

Step3

When preparing a sauce or syrup, you need to dissolve the honey in warm water and then put it inside the refrigerator. You are done. Wasn’t it simple?

After this, add glycerin and lavender oil and pour it into the glass container. Put this mixture in the refrigerator till it become gel like element.

Apply this homemade serum and use it on your face daily in the morning and evening and get rid of all skin related complications.

As you can see, it is not that difficult to prepare and make. Just make sure that you have kept all the ingredients ready beforehand so that you and start mixing it right away. I can’t tell you how yummy and tantalizing it was when I first had it.

It is always a special moment when you taste what you have so lovingly made. Trust me this drink is not like your other fruit drinks.

Using Amaranth Oil?

Have you heard about amaranth oil? Today oib I’m going to tell you about amaranth oil its origin, its benefits and techniques to use it in your daily life. Nice right? 🙂

Amaranth oil is extracted from the seed of amaranth flowering plant. It is a prehistoric plant and is being cultivated from ancient times. The oil has many essential nutrients which went carefully used can be extremely beneficial for your skin. Not only for skin is also used in food items and medicines and various religious ceremonies in Asian countries. We already talked about how rice powder, shikakai leaf or cinnamon are locally sourced here and used in skincare treatment.

But amaranth oil is more famous for its beauty perks than its uses in food. The oil is rich in nutrients and can give you a clean and refreshing look. Amaranth oil is beneficial for your skin not only by applying it on your body but also by consuming. You can use the amaranth leaves in salads and oil in various food products. Amaranth oil will help you to beautify your skin and hair from inside out. But I usually prefer it to use externally and it definitely shows immediate results.

Ways to use amaranth oil:

1. Applying directly on your skin:

You can apply and oil directly on your skin, try twice a day right out the shower in the morning and before bedtime in the evening. Take about 2 to 3 drops of amaranth oil in your palm and slowly apply it on your face, hands, legs and other parts of the body. Gently massage it on your body and allow the oil to seep into your skin.

Result: The oil oxidizes your skin and gives a very refreshing look, it also helps to get rid of dead skin cells.

2. Amaranth hair conditioner:

  • 2 drops of amaranth oil
  • ¼ cup coconut oil
  • 3-4 drops lavender essential oil or olive oil

Then, follow the next 4 simple steps:

  1. Takes coconut oil in a small bowl, add two drops of amaranth oil and 5 to 7 drops of lavender.
  2. Mix the mixture will tell you to get a single homogeneous liquid.
  3. Take this mixture into your hands and slowly rub it on your hair. Make sure it reaches the scalps and the tip of your hair, take your time to massage the mixture. I prefer to use a comb to ensure the oil is spreading evenly.
  4. Now take a hot damp towel and wrap it around your hair for about 30 minutes. Now you can watch the mixture off.

3. Amaranth as a body lotion :

  • 1 tsp amaranth oil
  • 1/4 cup beeswax
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 2tsp cocoa butter
  • 1/2 cup almond oil

  1. Takes beeswax in a medium-sized bowl and melts it over low heat.
  2. You can now add cocoa butter, coconut oil and stir the liquid will.
  3. Cut the heat off and quickly add almond oil to it, blend the mixture well
  4. Finally, when the mixture cools add 1 tablespoon of amaranth oils. You can also add essential oil of your likeness to it. The lotion is ready now keep it in a sealed bottle and use it at least 2 to 3 times a week.

Recipe- Quick Broccoli Stir Fry

I am sharing a quick recipe with you, which has only Broccoli as the main ingredient and will surely be a treat for all the vegetarians :

Mango Fennel Salad

Grapefruit with Black Rice Salad

Ingredients:

  • Broccoli flowers as desired
  • White pepper powder 1 tsp
  • Salt as desired
  • Butter or Oil 2tsp

Instructions:

  1. Clean the Broccoli flower and cut into bite size pieces. Include the stalk of the Broccoli.
  2. Heat the oil and add all the Broccoli flowers in it. Sprinkle the white pepper powder and salt on it.
  3. Cook for like 2 minutes only on high heat while stirring it constantly. Take it off once ready and serve yummy hot Broccoli Stir Fry.

Note: Never over cook your veggies to avoid lumps. It devoid many nutrients from the vegetables. Broccoli Stir Fry makes a good snack when you are dieting.
