How to control my oily skin?

Who hasn’t faced an oily skin problem? Yes many of us have. A few years back I was also facing oily skin problem. But successfully I overcame it by going all natural. Today I am going to share you the method I opted to control my
oily skin problem.

Yes, I know, oily skin is quite a trouble to deal with. The body produces an excess of skin oil and it accumulates on the skin giving rise to many skin problems like blackheads, whiteheads, pimples skin itchiness etc. Oily your skin is not all that bad but it should not be too much, moderate oily skin have their own advantages like they develop fewer wrinkles, you don’t need to use a moisturizer daily and much more. People suffering  from oily skin conditions tend to have a shiny skin and larger than average pores.

There are many natural ways to overcome oily skin, your these methods are those which I follow and some of them were recommended to me by many natural skin experts.

 NATURAL SKIN RECIPES

 EGG WHITES

Egg whites are great to overcome oily skin, they are rich in vitamin A which help in removing the blemishes, it dries the skin and shrinks the pores. To use egg white to overcome your oily skin problem. Whip one egg in a small bowl and spread it evenly on your face allow the mixture to dry then rinse your face with warm water. Use this method at least three times a week.

You can also add a squeeze of lemon for better results. This method will soak up the excess oil and shrinks the pores on your skin.

 LEMON

Rich in citric acid lemon is a good way to fight oily skin problem. The citric acid In the lemon balance as the pH value of the skin and also helps to overcome the skin discolouration.

To use lemon, it’s very simple. Take about 2 tablespoons of the distilled water in a small bowl and add a squeeze of lemon. Slowly dab this mixture on your face using cotton balls. Since lemon is an acid there are chances that it meant to dry out your skin, so after doing this you have a mild moisturizer. Try to natural in your moisturizer choices you may find many DIY moisturizer in this blog.

 TOMATOES

Similar to lemon the matters are also rich in assets if you feel lemon was too harsh than you should go for tomatoes. Tomatoes and tomato seeds are great for your skin, and I highly recommend them. Rich in vitamin C tomatoes are great for oily acne prone skin.

To get rid of excess oil using tomatoes, just blend want tomato in a blender and slowly massage it on your face for about 15 minutes. Wash your face with cold water and then apply a non-oily natural moisturizer.

 YOGURT

You might have definitely got it, as it is used to remove excess oil. If you’re uncomfortable with lemon or tomatoes then you have another alternative that is the yogurt. Rich in lactic acid your good absorbs the excess oil on your skin and leaves a very bright face.

Today I want to tell you two methods to use yogurt to overcome your oily skin problem.

Take about a tablespoon of plain Yogurt and directly apply it on your face and massage in small circles for about 15 minutes and then wash it off with cold water. Do this at least three or four times a week.

If you want much better results then you can follow this method. In a small bowl take 2 tablespoons of Yogurt, half tablespoon of finely ground oatmeal and a tablespoon of honey. Blend the mixture well. Apply the mixture directly on your face and leave it on for 15 minutes.

Essential oils can be much more powerful than you anticipate. Personally I had many trouble using essential oils, also I have heard from many getting in trouble by not properly using essential oil. Safety should be first priority, while dealing with such hazardous substances. I’ve created this safety guide in order to help you deal with essential oils.

Including myself many have incorporated essential oil in the daily life. They are highly concentrated liquid; it is not carefully used can cause great harm. The essential oil with respect and follow me on this guide on how to safely use essential oils.

  1. Never use any essential oil undiluted.
    Many experts believe that, you should only use undiluted essential oil once you have gained enough knowledge on what you’re dealing with. Many people use lavender oil, tea tree oil or any other essential oil without any prior precaution, most of them use undiluted. If abused this can be very harmful for your skin and even may leave a permanent damage, you may not see any damage to soon but in the long run there can be. So just avoid that risk.
  2. Some essential oil may have an allergic reaction to your skin.
    So before you try essential oil on your face or your hands, just test it on a small patch of skin. Most preferably on your thighs. Years of dealing with essential oils, I’ve heard many allergic reactions and inflammation to certain oils. Should definitely be sure before you start using it.
  3. Do a proper research before you start using essential oil.
    Some essential oils need to be totally avoided by pregnant women and those with problems skin is. Patients suffering from diseases like asthma, epilepsy or other similar condition should also choose essential oils carefully. The proper research and consult with your doctor before you start incorporating essential oil in your daily life.

  4. Do not use essential oils in excess, when it comes to using it the less is more.
    Essential oils are extremely concentrated liquid only one or two drops is what all you need. When I started using essential oil, I was using it to much and in no time I was facing the consequences. So using essential oils in excess is a big no!!
  5. Never allow children to use essential oils without their parents knowledge.
    As mentioned above if abused essential oil can be quite dangerous. Make sure to keep essential oil from unsafe hands. There have been many cases where children consumed essential oil, you definitely don’t want to end up in such a situation.
  6. Never take essential oils internally without any prior knowledge.
    Consult and do a research before you take them internally. Essential oils are highly concentrated is and should not be taken in without any proper understanding of it. Essential oils may be derived from direct from various food products like black pepper, lemon, clove, orange etc but it doesn’t mean that there must be taken internally. I am not saying that you shouldn’t, but you definitely need to do a proper research.
  7. Essential oils can be extremely flammable keep them away from any fire hazards

A lot of hubbub has been going around recently about coconut oil pulling, so it made me curious. After doing some reading, I was pretty amazed by the effects of coconut oil on oral health. So today on OiB, I would like to introduce the awesomeness of coconut oil, because you might be skeptical about this trend like I was once.

What is Oil Pulling? 

As explained on WebMD, oil pulling is a “type of Ayurvedic medicine that dates back 3,000 years… [that] involves swishing approximately 1 tablespoon of oil—typically coconut, sesame, or sunflower oil—in your mouth for about 20 minutes and then spitting it out.” The idea behind oil pulling is that the oils detoxify the oral cavity by drawing out toxins to create a clean, antiseptic environment.

I know what you are thinking. That sounds kind of like pseudo-science. But, recent studies have proven that oil pulling has many benefits.

Benefits of Oil Pulling 

A study in 2015 looked into the benefits of coconut oil pulling and the effects it has on plaque-related gingivitis. At the end of the 30 day period where the participants swished coconut oil, the results showed a “statistically significant decrease in the plaque and gingival indices” that was noted since day 7. The “scores continued to decrease during the period of study,” reports the head researcher.

The Journal of Traditional and Complementary Medicine published a full report on oil pulling in 2016 that details the following benefits:

  • Prevents dental cavities
  • Improves overall oral hygiene
  • Decreases oral microbial count (the lauric acid in coconut oil is great for this)
  • Reduces the stickiness of plaque
  • Reduces gingivitis
  • Decreases halitosis (bad breath)
  • Swishing strengthens the mouth and jaw muscles
  • Whitens teeth

Pretty cool, right? After reading the the studies, I could not wait to try it.

How To Pull Oil 

Okay, first, let me just say that while 20 minutes of swishing is how the ancients did it, you do not have to. Next, remember to buy organic, non-GMO coconut oil for maximum results.

Here is how I like to do oil pulling:

  1. Pour 1-2 teaspoons of coconut oil into your mouth (either with a spoon or from a medicine cup). Some people recommendto dothis right in the morning before drinking or eating, but I say whenever it works best for you.
  2. Swish for 5-20 minutes. Because 20 minutes is a long time, aim for around 10 minutes to receive the benefit.
  3. Go slow. Gentle swishing and sucking the oil through and around the teeth is all you need.
  4. Do not swallow. Spit the oil out in atrash can. Never spit it down the sink, because the oil will clog the pipes.
  5. Immediately rinse your mouth out with same warm sea salt water.
  6. Brush and floss as normal.
