Simple Homemade Body Scrub

Body, DIY Skincare | Amanda

There is no better feeling than touching a freshly scrubbed skin. Scrubbing leaves the skin smooth and feels fresh as well as exfoliate the dead skin layers which give healthy glow. Some of us may have the budget and time to spend a lovely weekend in a spa. Unfortunately, not all of us have the privilege for such luxury. Even though you have no time and budget to spend time at the spa; it does not mean that you cannot get a nice scrub and spa time at home.

Making a homemade body scrub is very simple. In fact, you can even use the ingredients that usually found in the kitchen. Forget the expensive spa or commercial body scrubs which full with chemical ingredients; here is some simple homemade body scrub that you can try.

SALT AND LEMON BODY SCRUB
Lemon, as you know, is rich in vitamin C and antioxidant which is definitely good for the skin. In addition, lemon also has skin brightening agent that can make your skin brighter and glow. To make this scrub, you are going to need:

  • 1 cup of Epsom salt or coarse sea salt
  • 1 cup oil of your choice such as olive, coconut, grape seed, sunflower seed, and much more.
  • ¼ cup of lemon juice

Mix the coarse sea salt and oil in a mixing bowl. And then add in lemon juice and continue stirring until you have the right consistency. It should not too runny or too thick, but the consistency should in between both. Store the mixture in a lidded jar and keep in the fridge. I usually use it as body scrub; I wet my body under the shower and the use the scrub to massage all over the body in circular motion and gentle. And then rinse thoroughly and pat dry. I also usually use moisturizer for smoother skin.

COFFEE SCRUB
You know my secret love affair with coffee in my am routine? Its either coffee, turmeric latte or delicious infused water! Coffee is more than just a mood booster in the morning. The next time you make morning coffee, you can use the coffee grounds for a wonderful body scrub. Coffee scrub helps prevent the appearance of cellulite as well as make the skin smoother. To make this body scrub, you will need:

  • ½ cup grounded coffee
  • ½ cup of coconut oil
  • One or two teaspoons of olive oil

Mix the coffee grounds and coconut oil in a mixing bowl. And then add in the olive oil until you get the right consistency. Store the mixture in a lidded jar and keep fridge.

AVOCADO AND ALMOND SCRUB
Forget about salsa for a while and use the avocado for a hearty scrub.
Avocado is rich in vitamin E which can moisture your skin. For this body scrub you will need:

  • 1 ripe avocado in medium size, peeled and mashed
  • ¾ to 1 cup grounded oatmeal
  • 1/3 cup grounded almonds.

Mix all the ingredients in mixing bowl and then use it to massage the body from head to toe. Massage in a circular motion and then rinse thoroughly. Since this scrub is rich in moisturizer, make sure to rub/clean the shower/tub afterward.
