Oatmeal makes an absolutely fantastic breakfast if you are looking to kick start a healthy lifestyle. It is packed to the brim with all sorts of nutrients. It doesn’t taste half bad, either. However, did you know that oat meal has other benefits beyond that? In fact, it is highly beneficial for your skin.

On this page, we are going to take a quick look at some of the skin benefits that oatmeal has been proven to have! This is not a definitive list either. Rest assured, if you put that oatmeal on your skin, you are going to feel the benefits!

Acts as a natural cleanser

Oatmeal is rich in a compound known as saponin. This compound is known to have a cleansing impact on the skin. It is able to easily rid your skin of all of that dirt and grime which has gathered on it throughout the day. Since oatmeal is not chemical based, it is going to be a whole lot better for your skin too. There are plenty of people out there who have had their skin ravaged by chemical-based products. If you use oatmeal, then that is not going to be an issue at all!

You should also remember that oats are naturally gritty. This means that they are great at loosening up the dirt and grime which other cleaners may have difficulty in eradicating.

Soothes certain skin conditions

Many people who suffer from certain skin conditions, including the following, find that they benefit from using oatmeal on their skin:

Oats are high in a number of lipids and proteins (we won’t go into depth on the ones inside of the oats!). These are known to have a moisturizing impact on the skin. If you use moisturizer on a daily basis, then turn towards oats. It is a natural solution and is going to be far better for your skin. After all, eventually your body is going to become used to the chemicals that you are putting on it, this means that the ‘standard moisturizers’ are going to have less of an impact.

Anti-ageing benefits

Oats also have an anti-ageing impact on the skin. This is because they are rich in antioxidants. They can help to reverse some of the damage caused by UV rays and chemicals on your skin. This will result in far younger looking skin. It will even eliminate the vast majority of your wrinkles, or at least reduce the appearance of them.

How to make it ?

It is actually pretty simple to start using oatmeal on your skin! You just need to mix it up in exactly the same way as you would normally make your oatmeal (you can make it with cold water, if you want!). Then it is just a case of slightly rubbing it against your skin. This will do most of the work. There are a few people out there who will also leave it on their skin for long periods of time. This is great if you want a nice, deep cleanse.
