What are Hemp Seeds and Why Aren’t They More Widely Used in Skincare?

Hemp is a plant that is a variety of the cannabis sativa plant species. Hemp is mainly grown for its widely used side products.

Hemp seeds have been dubbed as a “super food” because it is widely regarded as the most nutritious seed in the world. Hemp seeds have the perfect balance of protein, essential fats, vitamins and enzymes but have a relatively small concentration of sugars, saturated fats and starches. Because of this hemp seeds have numerous health benefits. According to one research, after 3 months of including hemp seeds in their diets, participants found the following differences in their health:

  • Reduced cholesterol and blood pressure with a significant reduction in the possibility of a stroke
  • Reduction in inflammation
  • Speedier recovery from disease and injury
  • A significant improvement in blood circulation. Diabetics found their feet less discolored and warmer
  • A strengthened immune system with a reduced likelihood of cardiovascular disease.

Not only do the consumption of hemps seeds have amazing health benefits, but they are also used in skin care. Hemp seeds are used in an oil form and has great benefits for the skin. It is made by compressing hemp seed and contains essential Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids as well as antioxidants and vitamins A & E that is very beneficial for the skin.

It is important to note that while hemp is used to make cannabis, the use of hemp seeds and hemp seed oil is not counted as “drug use” and will not cause you to fail any known drug test.

Here are the 3 Main Uses of Hemp Oil for Skin Care:

  1. Cure for Skin Conditions: Hemp seed oil is very effective for skin conditions such as rashes and eczema. Hemp seed oil’s soothing properties helps stop the rash from spreading. If your skin condition persists, please visit a doctor.
  2. Cure for Acne: Hemp seed oil is an amazing cure for acne prone skin. Add a few drops of neem oil, which can be found at any drugstore, and together with the hemp seed oil, they help heal acne scars and remove dark spots left after a pimple fades away.
  3. Oil Cleansing: Hemp seed oil does wonders to unclog the pores in your skin and thoroughly cleanse it. One of the main reasons for acne and oily skin is that our pores are clogged that build up oil which leads to acne. It is important that you thoroughly cleanse your skin especially after wearing heavy makeup or when your skin was exposed to the sun for too long.

However, hemp seeds are very expensive because of the politics surrounding the plant. The hemp plant is used to make cannabis. Before the twentieth century, hemp was widely used in most parts of the world. However, during the twentieth century the United States and Western Europe banned cannabis and hemp, which led most other countries in the world to ban it as well.

Due to the controversy surrounding hemp, hemp seeds are often ignored when it comes to skincare. Besides that, due to the scarcity of hemp seeds and hemp oil, they are very expensive to buy.

Apart from being a natural refrigerant, is one other highlighting about Jojoba oil that it’s not that expensive when comparing to all other essential oils.

One great thing about Jojoba oil suits many skin type. It is a great relief to those who are facing acne problems, the oil helps in oozing out the pain and relaxes your skin. It can be used with other oils like tea tree oil to overcome acne problems. Once after you have applied tea tree oil, wash it off with warm water then apply the jojoba oil. This combination works best and I have personally recommended to many of my friends.

Jojoba oil is also great while using against a sensitive skin or aged skin. By using cosmetics, the skin may become rough and very sensitive, while facing such conditions you should definitely give jojoba oil a try. Not only it sooths the skin but also reduces the wrinkles and leaves a very pleasing fragrance. Using jojoba oil is a very relaxing skin care method. You can also use it as a natural skin moisturiser, it is not greasy and blends very well with the skin. So yeah jojoba oil does have multiple advantages.

As mentioned earlier, one of the great thing about jojoba oil is that it suits many skin type. I personally who have shown an allergic reaction to certain oils like coconut oil, almond oil or olive oil. So if these mentioned oils have not worked for you then you should definitely give jojoba oil a try.

On hair – Organic Jojoba oil can be used to get healthy hair. It gives a very shiny texture to the hair and get the smoothness you desire for. Apply 7 to 8 drops of oil directly to your hair, massage it well, this will help to keep your head cool and your hair healthy. Likewise, you can also use it is a conditioner, all you need to do is add a few drops of jojoba oil along with the shampoo and let it wash your hair.

⇔ As an aftershave – Jojoba oil has great healing properties and it is a natural refrigerant. So use jojoba oil right after shaving.

As a lip gloss – Jojoba oil can also be used as a natural lip gloss, take very small quantity like a drop or so and dap it on your lips. Not only use them closely look but also reduces the flakes on your lips.

Jojoba oil is one of my favourite oil. Instead of the greasy look like many other oils jojoba oil gives a very non relaxing nongreasy feel. I really believe you should incorporate jojoba oil in your daily life.

The Importance of Eyebrows

For the last two years I feel that well shaped and filled in eyebrows have become more and more popular in the make-up world and to me, it’s not a surprise as of why. Eyebrows can drastically change what a person looks like and they add so much character to a face that I feel like it’s one of the first things that you should try to tackle when you’re interested in make-up. To illustrate how important brows are to the general look of a face I proceeded to quickly sketch a lady and gave her over 15 different brow shapes and intensities.

You may ask why? OiB is about natural beauty, and applied aromatherapy tips. Since the past months, I shared with you:

  • How to make an awesome mask at home with basic ingredients such as orange, carrots, honey and even cool seeds you never heard of!
  • Which powders are a blessing for your skin like fenugreek, shikakai, rice or cinnamon to name a few.
  • Which refreshments are part of my secret love affair: almond milk, turmeric latte or smoothies
  • … and my favorite recipes for breakfast with eggs and matcha!

And more coming soon! Because beauty has different ways of expressing itself, I though it is time to diversify my scope, at least for a day – No fancy words, promise!

I’m not going to tell you which ones I think are flattering or not because I feel like it’s a matter of taste and not of fact. I personally dislike it when people tell you how to do something because they often only suggest it because it’s what they personally like, not what may be most suitable for you. Different faces suit different things, so you should do your brows in whichever way you want!

All I want to achieve with this is that you become aware of what different eyebrows do and perhaps gain some insight into how you want to shape your own. The next beautiful visuals are the courtesy of HantasticBeauty.

Eyebrow OrganicIsBeautiful
Eyebrow | OrganicIsBeautiful

See how much changes in the intensity of the expressions when you change the opacity of the eyebrow. This is why it’s important to think of the colour as well! It can change how you come across drastically.

These two are almost identical, but the one on the left is more heavily filled in towards the tail and the beginning of the brow is left natural and lighter. On the right, the brow is filled in all the way to the center, note how much the intensity of the brow changes with just a little addition like that. So if you want a softer, more natural effect, lightly fill in the beginning of the brow instead of heavily

Eyebrow OrganicIsBeautiful
See how even a light or artistic eyebrow can bring expression to the face in a way that the ‘no eyebrow’ lacks, though not having brows can be a statement in itself as well and is quite popular for that.

Love,

Amanda.
