7 Powerful Antibacterial Essential Oils

Hello folks, you know how much I love how nature offers simple and yet amazing skincare solution! Well today, we gonna talk about essential oils!

Essential oils make some of the most powerful antibacterial products around ;)While there are a number of essential oils which are perfect for keeping bacteria at bay, there are seven of them which stand head and shoulders above the rest. It is these that we will be taking a look at on this page.

Eycalyptus | www.organicisbeautiful.com
I always keep Eucalyptus at home – organicisbeautiful.com

#1: EUCALYPTUS
This has been used for medicinal purposes for centuries. It is often used to treat wounds such as burns and cuts. In addition to this, you can actually find eucalyptus in a variety of different dental products. This is because it is brilliant at fighting cavities and keeping various dental conditions at bay.

Amazed? Well, keep reading!

#2: PEPPERMINT
Peppermint, as you may well know, is used for dental purposes. Most toothpaste on the market is mint flavored. This isn’t just because it tastes good, but because it is a powerful antibacterial. In addition to this, it can help to fight nail infection. When consumed (not via toothpaste) it can also provide a nice little boost to the immune system which will keep your health in tip-top condition.

#3: LAVENDER
Lavender is a powerful antibacterial. It is used to treat a variety of different skin conditions. However, it is most effective on acne and psoriasis. In fact, this is one of the main reasons as to why you will find Lavender added to some of the most popular skin care products out there on the market. It helps to prevent acne.

In addition to this, acne is known for its ability to provide a person with protection from bacteria if they are dealing with a cut or sunburn.

#4: TEA TREE OIL
This can be applied directly to the skin. The others will, likely, have to be diluted with some other oil. Tea tree oil is often used to deal with skin infections. This includes warts, eczema, and acne. However, it has also been proven to be useful when it comes to the treatment of athlete’s foot.

Tea Tree Oil is actually one of only a few products out there on the market which your doctor will recommend that you keep to hand at all times. It is just that useful!

Yep 😉

#5: BERGAMOT
Bergamot is not oil that you can apply to your skin. Well, you can do that, but most of the benefit occurs when it is ingested. This is because it can help to fight off urinary tract infections, meningitis etc.

#6: LEMONGRASS
This can help fight off bacteria in a number of different situations. For example, lemongrass is known for its ability to combat body odor, malaria, and bacteria which causes food poisoning. It also acts as a natural antiseptic. This means that you can use it when you are dealing with cuts and scrapes.

Top 4 Oils for Acne Skin (Jojoba, tamanu, sesame and argan)

Acne is a problem which befalls many a person. In fact, the majority of people out there are likely to get acne at least once in their lives. Now, of course, you can always head to your local pharmacy and pick up a couple of products to help you tackle the problem. These products do not tend to be all that great, however. This is why it is suggested that you look into natural products, namely oils. These are four of the best oils out there for acne-prone skin at the moment.

Jojoba Oil

Jojoba Oil is fantastic for dealing with acne. This is because it can accomplish a number of different things, all of which will help when you are dealing with acne and really want it to be gone sooner as opposed to later:

  • Moisturizer: most cases of acne are down to dry skin, or at least your skin is going to dry out if you have acne. Using jojoba oil, you will be able to inject a touch of moisture into your skin. Straight away, this is going to result in you looking far
  • Spot treatment: you can use the jojoba oil on an individual spot on your face. This is great if your acne is not too intense at the moment.
  • Oil cleansing: yes, it is an oil, but it is a beneficial oil. The jojoba oil will help to break down the other oils on the skin, making it easier for them to remove using other cleaning methods. This means cleaner, less acne-prone skin.

Tamanu Oil

Tamanu Oil is sourced from plants in the south pacific. It actually comes from the seeds found in the fruit of the tree. There are a number of different benefits to using Tamanu oil. Perhaps the biggest benefit is the fact that it acts as an antibiotic. This means that it will kill the bacteria which is known to cause acne. In addition to that, Tamanu oil has the ability to quell any inflammation. This will speed up the process of the acne disappearing. Many people also find that Tamanu oil also has a benefit when it comes to the reduction of appearance in acne scars.

Sesame Oil

The best way to use sesame oil to combat acne is through the process of a skin massage. This will increase circulation in the skin which, ultimately, will push out the bacteria and toxins which cause the acne. Sesame oil is pretty good at this as it acts as a solvent.

It will quickly break up any excess oils or debris on your skin. This makes it quicker for them to be removed, again, speeding up the acne elimination process.

Argan oil

Once again, this is an oil which has a number of different benefits on the skin.

Argan | OrganicIsBeautiful
Argan | OrganicIsBeautiful

There are a few compounds in argan oil that you should be aware of:

  • Oleic acid: this makes it easier for oil and water to blend together. This means that when you are trying to clear oil from your skin, you will eliminate it faster.
  • Linoleic acid: this reduces inflammation in the skin. This is fantastic if you are dealing with severe acne flare-ups.
  • Polyphenols: this encourages dead skin cells to fall off of the skin and new skin cells to form properly. This will stop the majority of your pores from becoming blocked.
  • Vitamin E and natural antioxidants: help to fight off free radicals on the skin, greatly reducing the chance of acne flare-ups.

Why not check out some of these oils for your skin? Any one of these top 4 oils for acne skin is going to be so much better for your health than any chemical-based product you throw on it. This means that your acne is going to calm down quicker, leading to clearer skin that you can be proud of.

Love,

Amanda.

Summer Herbal Skin and Face Care

Summer is at our door step. Can you feel it? A few days was June 21st. Did you say June 21st!? Wow! Time to think about how to prepare your skin against the heat this summer to maintain your natural beauty. Posting today on OiB is not a coincidence. June 21st means summer begins across Europe:

In FRANCE: Back home in Paris, June 21st coincides with La Fete de la Music, officially my favorite day of the year.

In SWEDEN:  While the parties is spreading over France that day, Scandinivia is not at rest. In Sweden, June 21st resonates with the Midsummer Eve.

What about my skin?

Heat, humidity and the shining sun rays can destroy our precious skin, this will result in dry, rough and peeled skin. Sun is very good for skin, specially of mornings, it contains lots of Vitamin D which is very good for skin and also for bones. Vitamin D also helps in Calcium absorption.

When summer arrives all the irritating stuff comes such as rashes or dry skin can cause itchiness etc.

Water Intake | OrganicIsBeautiful
Water Intake | OrganicIsBeautiful

Back to the basic:

  1. WATER INTAKE: Drink plenty of water. It is not only because that water keeps us hydrated but also because it is essential for our body. Water not only quenches the thirst but also helps to flush out the toxins and waste that accumulate in the body.
  2. EAT VEGETABLES. What you eat shows on your face. Do not consume too much of snacks and salty products as salt can have a dehydrating effect on the body. Like the last week, I ate so many french fries I end up drinking lots of water. Also, include high water content fruits in your diet like watermelon, cucumber, melon and lettuce which will give you nutrients and anti-oxidants. Also, include other green vegetables. Why? Read my previous article here.
  3. SUNSCREEN. Apply a good sunscreen. It will not only help you from tanning and also from sunburns but will also protect you from harsh UV rays that can lead to skin cancer. Did you know that rice powder is a natural sunscreen protector? (Really, I am not kidding!).
  4. EXFOLIATE. Exfoliation is very important to get rid of the dead skin that it is accumulated on the face and other parts of the body. Use an exfoliating sponge or scrub off the dead skin from the body. You can prepare a homemade scrub, I have added some simple and excellent recipes last week! Gently rub this scrub in circular movements on the entire body for 15 minutes and then rinse off.
  5. CLEANSER. Cleansing is also very good for Summer. You can cleanse your skin at home. Plain yogurt mixed with honey makes a good natural cleanser which not just cleanses but also moisturizes the skin. Apply this to your skin and leave it for 10 minutes. Rinse off with plain water. If you have time, why not finish by a DIY orange peel mask?

Skin Herbal Masks:

ALOE VERA AND OAT MEAL:

Take some dry oats and mixes it thoroughly with some aloe vera gel and apply on face and massage gently with your fingers in circular motion for 5-10 minutes. Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse off with luke warm water. Repeat this remedy once every week to get noticeable results.

APPLE AND HONEY FACE MASK:

Crush an apple (quantity as required) and mix it with 3 tablespoon honey with it. Apply on clean face. Leave for 20 minutes and rinse off with water. Repeat this 2 to 3 times every week for fair and oil-free skin. Some further recipes here.

TURMERIC POWDER, YOGURT AND HONEY FACE PACK:

Make a thick paste by mixing all the three ingredients well, you can add lemon juice for brightening and rose water. Apply this pack on the dried skin and leave it for 15-20 minutes. Later, rinse it off with cold water. This pack helps in moisturizing, cleansing and brightening.

Carrot mask organicisbeautiful

3 Easy DIY Carrot Masks You Will Love!

Carrot, Lemon and Olive Oil Face Mask

Step 1: Prepare the mixture

Peel and boil one large carrot until tender (when a fork can easily pierce through it, it’s ready). Mash the carrot with a fork. We want a creamy consistency.

Now, add the following:

  • 1/2 tbsp of Organic Honey.
  • 1/2 tbsp. of Extra virgin olive oil.

NOTE: If your skin is oily, you may omit the extra virgin olive oil.

  • A few drops of organic lemon juice. How many you may ask? Read below 😉
Olive Oil | OrganicIsBeautiful
Olive Oil | OrganicIsBeautiful

Basically, your skin type will depend on the amount of lemon juice you add in. Because lemon juice is a natural astringent, you should know that the oilier your skin, the more lemon you want in your mask! Simple. ). If you have dry skin, add about 8 drops of lemon and if you have oily skin, add up to 1 tablespoon.

Step 2: Check consistency

The mixture shouldn’t be too clumpy or too runny. If the mix is too thick, you can add in a bit more extra virgin olive oil or water to thin it out. You can add a bit more honey to the mix to give it a thicker, paste-like texture.

Cool down. Let the mixture cool down so that the temperature is comfortable on your skin.

Step 3: Mask time

Let the fun part begins!  Apply the carrot mask onto a clean and bare face, even your neck if you wish, but avoid the eye and mouth area.

Leave it on for 10 -15 minutes and wash it off with warm water afterwards. Pat dry and follow up with your favorite moisturizer or eye cream.

Carrot and Coconut Oil Face Mask

Step 1: Wash, chop and blend.

Get a large carrot and cut it into 5 or so chunks. Wash them while boiling 3 cups of water in a sauce pan. Now Add carrots, reduce heat to low, cover and steam for 8-10 minutes.

Now you want to get the right texture. How?  First slowly drain water and add carrots to food processor or blender.

Step 2: Add the secret oil.

  • Add 1 tbsp. coconut oil and blend until smooth. Like a yammi puree 😉

Step 3: Pamper your face.

My favourite part. You will see the result straight away! Apply face mask to face, avoiding the eyes and mouth. Allow to set about 15-20 minutes. Don’t forget to wash face with warm water, and gently wipe off any remaining bits with a wash cloth.

NOTE: If you need a moisturizer, apply a little coconut oil or olive oil.

Carrot and Avocado Face Mask

Step1: Peel, boil and drain

Pick 2 or 3 large carrots in your kitchen and slice them into small rounds. Boil the carrots in a small pot until they’re easily pierced with a fork. Drain the water away and pour the cooked carrot slices into a small bowl.

Time to get exciting and … messy! Oops! 😉 Mash the carrots thoroughly with a fork.

Step 2: Get the right mixture

  • 4 1/2 tablespoons of olive oil with the carrots1/2 tablespoon at a time, until the mixture has reached a smooth, creamy consistency.
  • 2-3 spoonfuls of the avocado as you go along as well. If you prefer a slightly different consistency, simply adjust the amount of oil to suit your preference.

Step 3: Be patient

Wait until the mask has cooled sufficiently to apply, and then smooth it onto your skin. Leave it in place for about 10 minutes; rinse it off with warm water and pat your skin dry.

Done!  Source.
